국문 초록

이 글은 인터넷의 발달과 함께 새롭게 부각되고 있는 질적 연구의 한 방법인 인터넷 문화기술지의 특징과 연구 절차를 탐색하는 것이 주요 목적이다. 먼저, 우리는 인터넷 문화기술지의 개념과 발달을 규명하였다. 그리고 전통적 문화기술지와의 비교를 통해 인터넷 문화기술지의 방법적 특징을 탐색하였다. 마지막으로 인터넷 문화기술지를 수행하는 절차를 연구주제 정의하기, 온라인 커뮤니티 선택하기, 자료 수집하기, 자료 분석하기, 연구 결과 보고하기의 5단계로 제시하였으며, 각 단계에 따른 실천 전략을 제시하였다. 더불어, 인터넷 문화기술지를 적용함에 있어 민감한 문제로 부각되고 있는 윤리적 고려사항도 탐색하였다. 본 연구는 하나의 문화적 현상인 인터넷 공간을 체계적으로 연구할 수 있는 유용한 질적 연구 방법이 될 것이며 교육 문화 현상을 재조명하는데 기여할 것이다. 또한, 인터넷 문화기술지의 적용으로 밝혀진 문화 현상은 우리 삶의 모습을 통합적으로 이해하는데 기여할 수 있다. The aim of this paper is to investigate Internet ethnography as a new research method that has emerged with the development of the Internet. First, the concept and historical development of Internet ethnography were throughly researched. This was followed by an investigation into the methodological characteristics of Internet ethnography through a comparison with traditional ethnography. Finally, the procedure of Internet ethnography is suggested to comprise of four steps: definition of the research theme, data collection, data analysis, and the representation of research results. In addition, the ethical dimension of the application of research to Internet ethnography is also considered. This paper will provide a useful qualitative research method with which to systematically research Internet space and contribute to a re-illumination of educational phenomena. Also, our cultural phenomena discovered through these efforts will contribute significantly to an integrated understanding of our lives.
