생애사 연구동향의 방법론적 검토: 세 가지 방법적 이슈를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 글은 교육 분야에서 생애사 연구의 방법론적 탐구를 확장하고, 정교화하기 위하 여 생애사 연구자의 역할, 평가준거, 그리고 글쓰기 전략 및 윤리적 쟁점이라는 세 가 지 방법적 이슈를 중심으로 생애사 연구동향을 방법론적으로 검토하였다. 구체적인 연 구결과 및 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내러티브 면담자 혹은 1차적 해석자인 연구자는 자료수집 과정에서 참여자와 수평적인 권력관계를 형성하였다. 즉, 생애사 연구자는 일방적으로 자료를 획득하는 '수 탈자'가 아니라, 호혜적인 '연인'으로 볼 수 있었다. 또한, 2차적 해석자로서 연구자는 자료의 분석과 해석 작업에서 참여자의 내러티브를 재해석하는 '이중적 내러티브 필터 혹은 '큐레이터'로서의 역할을 하였으며, 3차적 해석자로서 연구자는 반영성을 강조하였다. 둘째, 맥락성, 반영성, 방법론적 헌신, 심미적 형태, 학문적 및 실천적 공헌은 '좋은' 생애사 연구를 가늠하기 위한 평가준거였다. 셋째, 문학적 및 예술적 글쓰기 방식과 윤리적 쟁점에 대한 고려는 생애사적 글쓰기의 중요한 전략이었다. 이 글은 생애사 연 구동향의 방법적 이슈를 검토함으로써 방법론적 정교성과 엄격성을 심화할 것이다. 또 한, 이 글은 실제적인 생애사 연구의 방법론적 딜레마와 이슈를 해결하기 위한 하나의 가이드라인이 될 수 있을 것이다. The aim of this paper is to methodologically investigate the life history research trend through three methodic issues: role of life history researcher, evaluation criteria, and writing strategies/ethical issues to broaden and elaborate methodological inquiry of life history research in education. The specific results and conclusions are as follows. First, the life history researcher as a narrative interviewer or first interpreter built up horizontal power relationship with research participants in data gathering. The life history researcher as a second interpreter was not a unilateral 'robber' but a reciprocal 'lover' in narrative interview. Also, the life history researcher was a double narrative filter or curator who reinterpret narrative of research participants in the data analysis and interpretation. And the life history researcher as third interpreter stressed reflexivity in terms of validating. Second, the criteria such as contextuality, reflexivity, methodological commitment, aesthetic form, and academic and practical commitment were evaluation criteria to appreciate 'good' life history research. Third, artistic and literate writing style and consideration on ethical issues were prominent writing strategies. The results of this paper will deepen methodological delicacy and rigor through investigating methodic issues of the life history research trend. Also, this paper will be a guideline to resolve methodological dilemmas and issues in practical life history research.
