국문 초록

이 논문은 국악교육에 대한 연구로 음악이라는 문화유산의 전승과 문화적 정체성형성에 "음악하기(musicking)"가 어떤 역할을 하는지 알아보기 위한 것이다. 현재 초등학교 음악시간에 이루어지는 성공적인 국악교육에서는 교사와 학생들이 "음악하기"를 통해 국악이 가진 한국의 문화 요소를 한 교실 안에서 공유하면서, 국악을 한국음악으로서 경험하고 표현한다. "음악하기"를 통해 교사 스스로 국악을 한국음악이라고 느끼고, 음악교육을 통해 국악을 학생들에게 전달함으로써 학생들이 "새로운" 한국의 음악을 일상에서 실천하도록 하는 것이다. 이것은 학생들에게 국악을 한국문화의 일부로 배우려는 동기를 갖게 한다. 전수자 및 수용자가 직접 그 음악을 경험하는 것을 통해 가르치고 배우는 "음악하기"가 있는 국악교육은 감정적인 학습이 이루어지는 "감정의 사회화"를 수반한다. 따라서 "음악하기"를 통한 국악교육은 국악이 박제된 전통음악으로서만 존재하는 것이 아니라 한국인들의 음악으로 되살아날 가능성을 보여준다. This article is about the education on Korean traditional music (Kook-ak), exploring the role of "musicking" in the transmission of musical heritage and the formation of cultural identity. Through "musicking", in the cases of successful Kook-ak classes in elementary schools at present, the teachers and students could share certain factors of Korean culture and internalize Kook-ak as Korean music. In other words, "musicking" accompanied the process of awakening certain "feelings" toward Kook-ak to regard it as the Korean music, which were transmitted to the students through music classes and made them practice this "new" Korean music in their everyday lives. This arouses the motivation to learn Kook-ak as a part of Korean culture among the students. The education of Kook-ak through "musicking" is a teaching and learning process by which both the instructors and recipients directly experience that music, thereby leading to an education in the emotional dimension："the socialization of emotion". As a result, this article shows that Kook-ak have potentials to be revived as Korean music rather than remain merely as an old-fashioned traditional music.
