방정환의 그림동화 번역본에 관한 연구 -「잠자는왕녀」와 「텬당가는길」을 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 방정환의 『사랑의 선물』에 실린 두편의 그림동화 「잠자는 왕녀」와「텬당 가는길（일명도젹왕）」이 1916년 나까지마 코토（中島孤島）에 의해 번역된 『그리므오토기바나시（グリム御伽噺）』의 두 작품을 저본（저본）으로 번역한 것임을 밝히고 일본어역과 방정환의 번역을 비교 분석하여 방정환의 번역동화의 특징을 고찰하고자 하였다. 『그리므오토기바나시』는 1915년부터 후잔보（冨山房）가 출판한 「모한카테이분코（模範家庭文庫）」시리즈 중의 한 권으로 오카모토 키이치（岡本帰一）가 표지 디자인과 삽화를 담당했다. 방정환은 나까지마에 의해 번역된 그림동화의 스토리 뿐만 아니라 삽화까지 옮겨서 번역했다. 이러한 삽화의 일치가 나까지마역을 방정환역의 저본으로 보는 가장 큰 이유이다. 이러한 실례를 들어 본 연구에서는 종래의 연구에서 밝혀지지 않은 방정환의 번역 동화에 대한 새로운 사실을 밝힘과 동시에 한국 근대의 아동 문학과 일본 아동 문학과의 영향 관계를 보다 깊이 있게 연구해 나가고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The study of Bang Jung-hwan’s works has steadily continued. But it is true that there’s only a few studies on fairy tales that Bang Jeong-hwan translated. In this sense, I tried to find the original fairy tales in Japanese which Bang Jung-hwan translated into Korean. After then, with comparing the translated tales in Korean by Bang Jung-hwan with the original fairy tales, I have researched and studied the characteristics appearing in Bang Jung-hwan’s translated fairy tales. Moreover, through this process, I tried to exemplify the influence the modern Japanese children’s literature (which indicates the literature in the age of Taishow) made on the modern Korean children’s literature. In this thesis, I make a study of the fairy tales which Bang Jung-hwan translated from the original two fairy tales, which was translated by Nakagima koto and printed in Grimuotogibanasi, one of Mohankateybunko series the publishing company, Huzanbo, has published from 1915. I can assure that Nakagima’s two translated fairy tales must be the original because the illustrations shown in the story book are similar with those in Bang jung-hwan’s book. It is certain that Bang Jung-hwan put the illustrations of the original book in his book as well as translated the original story. The original fairy tales of the two stories Bang Jung-hwan translated was Nagagima's translated two stories. Also the original fairy tales of the two in Japanese was Grim’s fairly tales, Nr. KHM50, ‘Sleeping Beauty(Dornröschen)’ and Nr. KHM192,‘The Master Thief (Der Meisterdieb). In the translated two stories, we can see Bang Jung-hwan ‘s effort to give humorous laugh to Korean children who were in difficulty. Obviously, Grim’s fairy tales and Nagagima’s translated stories have no humorus aspects. People sometimes criticize his written and translated works are full of sympathetic stories. But these two stories demonstrate that his works are also humorous. Bang Jung-hwan recreated a man of heart who doesn’t appear in the original story and omitted inhumane part from the original. Through this effort, Bang Jung-hwan wanted to depict the good world for the Korean children. In conclusion, it is obvious that Bang Jung-hwan tried to portray the humane and good world through the themes such as filial devotion, affection, love for the family and laugh, which we can not see in the original stories.
