교육영화의 이해와 그 글쓰기의 의미

국문 초록

교육영화는 교육을 소재로 하거나 배경으로 삼은 영화 중에서 인간에 관한 진지한 물음을 제기하는 영화라고 말할 수 있을 것이다. 즉, 교육 영화는 인격과 인간성과 인간의 품위와 이성적인 공동선의 실현 등의 문제와 밀접하게 관련된다. 교육영화의 유형과 그 성격에 관해 간단히 밝히면 다음과 같다. 교사 소재형 교육영화는 교육의 주체인 교사를 중심 제재로 삼은 경우의 영화이며, 성장기경험형 및 캠퍼스드라마형 교육 영화는 교육의 대상인 학생이 사건 구조의 중심이 되거나 학교를 배경으로 얘깃거리를 풀어가는 경우의 영화이며, 문제제기적 대안형 및 반사회적 일탈형 교육영화는 주체·대상 못지 않게 사회적 현실의 장(場)과 의미가 부각된 경우의 영화이다. 본고에서 구체적인 분석의 대상으로 영화 작품 몇 편을 선정한바, 장애 소녀를 지도하는 특수학교 교사의 이야기를 그린 「작은 신의 아이들」, 세대와 인종을 초월한 우정을 주제로 한 「파인딩 포레스터」,한 소년의 선행이 죽음을 통해 큰 화제를 불러 일으켰던 내용의「아름다운 세상을 위하여 」 및 그 밖의 몇 편의 한국 영화 등이 그것이다. Educational films are the movies which deal with education that is relevant to humane growth. This notion is, of course, just a provisional term. If it is necessary to add some notional expression and description, educational films are some, that suggest serious questions about human being, in movies which treat education as material or a background. This thesis is mainly summarized as follows; First, educational films are divided into five types: teacher material type, growing period experiential type, campus dramatic type, problem-suggesting alternative type and antisocial deviant type. I explained the significance and characteristics of each type in this thesis. Second, I analyzed five movies which are regarded as model texts of education-films. The movies are 「Children Of A Lesser God」, 「Finding Forrester」, 「Pay It Forward」and two other Korean movies. Third, I think that education-films should not be maintained for simply showing to audience, but be extended into the category of humane studies. The true significance of educational films lies, on one hand, in seriously asking about human being relating to educational problems or in improving the conditions of humane lives in order to make people develop in right ways. On the other hand, the significance of educational film ecriture is in creatively reproducing meanings by approaching new paradigms of pedagogy.
