아동학대 사건 중 자녀 살해 후 자살에 대한 신문 기사 분석: 가해자 특성에 따른 자녀 살해 경향

국문 초록

본 연구는 자녀 살해 후 자살 사건의 전반적인 발생 현황과 가해자 및 피해자 특성, 범행 이유 등을 확인하기 위해 신문 기사에 나타난 자녀 살해 후 자살 사건을 분석하였으며, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2014년부터 2023년까지 언론에 보도된 자녀 살해 후 자살 사건은 총 160건이었으며, 자녀를 살해한 가해자는 190명, 피해 아동은 232명이었다. 둘째, 자녀를 살해한 가해자는 부에 비해 모가 더 많았고, 연령은 40대가 가장 많았으며, 피해 아동은 남아가 여아에 비해 더 많았고, 연령은 2-7세가 가장 많았다. 셋째, 자녀 살해 후 자살 이유로는 경제적 문제가 가장 많았으며, 다음으로 정신건강 문제의 순이었다. 넷째, 부 단독 범행과 부모 공동 범행의 경우는 경제적 문제가, 모 단독 범행의 경우는 정신건강 문제가 주요 원인으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 자녀 살해 후 자살 사건의 예방 및 대응 방안 마련을 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed suicide cases following child murders reported in newspaper articles to determine the overall incidence, characteristics of perpetrators and victims, and the reasons for such crimes. The results are as follows: First, 160 such cases were reported in the media from 2014 to 2023, involving 190 perpetrators and 232 child victims. Second, the perpetrators who killed their children had more mothers than fathers, and the majority were in their 40s. Among the child victims, boys outnumbered girls and most were between the ages of 2 and 7 years. Third, economic problems were identified as the most common reason, followed by mental-health problems. Fourth, in cases involving only fathers or both parents, economic problems were the main cause, while in cases involving only mothers, mental health problems were the main cause. Based on these findings, the study provides recommendations for preventing and addressing suicides that occur after the murder of a child.
