제스처 기반 무용교육이론에 대한 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구는 무용교육과 무용비평의 기저를 이루는 이론적 탐색을 목적으로 한다. 현재 무용교육의 패러다임은 보편적 교육을 향하고 있으며 이러한 논의에 기초가 되는 움직임에 대해 motion, movement, gesture 등 여러 가지 개념들이 중층적으로 혼재되어 있는데 어떠한 접근이 무용교육의 이론적 핵심인가를 규명한다. 따라서 본 연구는 문헌분석에 기초한 해석적 연구방법을 채택하여 M. Weber가 ‘사회학은 사회적 행위가 무엇인가를 규명하는 학문이다’라고 규정한 것으로부터 영감을 받아 행위이론적 기반 위에서 무용교육의 이론적 근거를 탐색한다. 무용 행위는 ‘인간의 행위’이며, 인간의 행위는 문화적 의미구조 속에서 의미를 부여받으며 해석되고 이해될 수 있으며, 하나의 행위는 그 문화의 일부로써 단순한 동작이 아니라 하나의 ‘제스처’라고 할 수 있다. 즉, 제스처는 의미를 지닌 단위로써 문화적 범주 내에서 해석될 수 있는 행위이다. 그러므로행위로서 무용은 문화적 의미구조의 맥락 안에서 그 의미를 해석하고 이해할 수 있으며 무용에서제스처에 대한 이해는 무용분석, 무용비평, 무용교육을 위한 범주와 분석단위를 제시할 수 있는중요한 부분으로 파악될 수 있다. 본 연구는 무용에서의 제스처를 움직임의 의미단위로 제시하여무용교육의 이론적 근거와 무용교육을 위한 학습의 범주를 마련하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study aims at the theoretical exploration that forms the basis of dance education and dance criticism. The current paradigm of dance education is toward universal education, and various concepts such as motion, movement, and gesture are mixed in layers for the movement that is the basis for this discussion. Therefore, this study adopted an interpretative research method based on literature analysis, and inspired by what M. Weber stipulates that sociology is the study that identifies what social behavior is , it explores the theoretical grounds of dance education on the basis of behavioral theory. Dance is a “human act,” and human behavior is given meaning in a cultural semantic structure and can be interpreted and understood. And an action can be said to be a ‘gesture’ rather than a simple motion as part of that culture. That is, a gesture is an action that can be interpreted within a cultural category as a unit with meaning. Therefore, dance as an action can interpret and understand its meaning within the context of a cultural semantic structure, and understanding the gestures of dance is an important part that can suggest categories and analysis units for dance analysis, dance criticism, and dance education. This study proposes gestures as a unit of movement in dance, and through this, aims to establish the theoretical basis for dance education and the category of learning for dance education.
