영문 초록

Seven patients with depressive pseudodementia (4 males and 3 females) were reviewed. Their age ranged from 34 to 73 in year, with no specific preponderance. Development of pseudo dementia seems to be related to major depression, either with psychotic features or with melancholia, rather than to the depressed state of bipolar disorder. Important cognitive dysfunctions were in short-term and recent memory, orientation for time, and concentration. Electroconvulsive treatment resulted in favorable outcome even in resistant patients to pharmacotherapy. Dexamethasone suppression test is not thought as valuable in the diagnosis of depressive pseudodementia.
