영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of the landscape drawings between the manics of major affective disorders and the schizophrenics in terms of the aspects of drawing such as the composition, the form, and the color. The materials were respectively the forty two landscape drawings produced by the forty two manics of major affective disorders and the same number of the schizophrenics who had been admitted to Kyungpook National University Hospital in Taegu from January 1982 to August 1986. The materials were evaluated according to the operationalized criteria of each category (e.g. completion, space filling, spatial perspective in composition) by two separate raters and the frequency of each category was calculated and compared between the manic and the schizophrenic groups. The interrater’s concordance rate was 0.85 and x2-test was performed to confirm the significance level. The results were as follows: The good completion of the drawing, the number of the used colors, the reality sense in using the colors, and the use of the primary and secondary colors were significantly more in frequency in the manic group than in the schizophrenic one. These results suggest that the color of the drawing may be an index in differential diagnosis between the manics of major affective disorders and the schizophrenics.
