Teacher workforce development is the primary resource for educational advancement, and improving teacher compensation is key to attracting and retaining high-quality talent. Based on panel data from 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in China from 2008 to 2022, this study uses the Theil Index, Moran’s I, and the Spatial Durbin Model to analyze regional disparities, spatial correlations, and influencing factors of wage and welfare expenditures for secondary vocational teachers. The results show that overall disparities in these expenditures have gradually narrowed during the study period, with inter-regional disparities being the main source, and intra-regional disparities predominantly originating from the eastern region. The expenditures also exhibit significant spatial autocorrelation, local spatial clustering, and marked spatial spillover effects. From the perspective of spatial effect decomposition, local government financial support and economic development not only directly influence wage and welfare expenditures within a region but also promote expenditures in neighboring provinces. Prices directly affect local expenditures but exert a suppressive effect on neighboring regions. Investment in education funding does not necessarily promote local expenditures for secondary vocational teachers, as excessive education investment may not directly translate into improved teacher compensation. Moreover, increased investment in one region may indirectly influence the allocation of educational resources in neighboring regions, thus affecting wage and welfare expenditures there.
영문 초록
教师队伍建设是教育发展的第一资源,提高教师待遇是吸引和稳定优秀人才的关键。基于2008-2022 年30 个省(自治区、直辖市)面板数据,借助泰尔指数、莫兰指数、空间杜宾模型分析我国中等职业教师工资福利支出的区域差异、空间相关性和影响因素。研究结果表明:2008-2022 年我国中等职业教师工资福利支出整体差异正逐渐缩小,区域差异主要来源于区域间差异,而区域内差异主要来源于东部地区;同时表现出显著的空间自相关、局部空间集聚特征以及明显的空间溢出效应。从空间效应分解来看,当地政府财政支持和经济发展水平既能直接影响本地区中职教师工资福利支出又能带动邻近省域中职教师工资福利支出的提升;物价能够直接影响本地区中等职业教师工资福利支出,但对邻近省域的中职教师工资福利支出有抑制作用;教育经费投入不会对本地区中等职业教师工资福利支出有促进作用,可能过多的教育经费投入并非直接转化为中等职业教师工资福利支出,同时对本地区增加教育经费投入,会间接影响到邻近省域中职教育经费资源的分配,进而影响中等职业教师工资福利支出。
