학교폭력피해경험, 우울감, 청소년의 자살에 대한 생각의 관계 검증연구: 일반긴장이론을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 학교폭력피해의 경험이 청소년들의 자살에 대한 생각에 미치는 영향을 이해하고 그경로에서 우울의 매개역할에 대해 검증하고자 하는 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 Angew의 일반긴장이론(GST)을 이론적 배경으로 적용하여 두 가지의 가설을 검증하였다. 연구 분석을 위해서는 전국에서 표본 추출한 2,500명의 중학생과 고등학생 청소년들을 대상으로 학교폭력피해의 경험과 청소년들의 정신건강과 관련된 데이터를 포함한 설문결과를 담고 있는 데이터를 분석하였다. 연구의 분석방법은 주요 독립변수들과 종속변수간의 인과관계와 그 상대적 영향력을 비교하기 위한단계적 선형회귀분석을 수행하였고 우울의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 Baron과 Kenny의 매개관계 검증의 방법론적 근거를 적용하였다. 연구 분석 결과, 이 연구는 학교폭력피해의 경험이 청소년들의 자살에 대한 생각에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 위험요인이라는 것을 밝혀냈다. 그리고 청소년의 우울감이 이 두 관계를 완전히 매개하는 매개요인이라는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 일반긴장이론에서 제시하는 바와 같이 부모에 대한 애착과 같은 사회적 지지 요인들이 청소년들이 학교폭력피해를 경험하고 자살에 대한을 가지는 위험을 낮추는 완충적 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 부모에 대한 애착은 자살에 대한 생각의 관계에서 우울감에 의해 부분적으로 매개되는 것으로 이해되었다. 그 외에 이 연구의 공헌점, 정책적 함의, 그리고 후속연구에 대한 제안 등이 논의부분에서 논의 되었다.

영문 초록

This study has a purpose to examine associations among school bullying victimization,depression and suicidal thoughts in 2,500 high-school and middle-school students. On thebasis of the key propositions of General Strain Theory proposed by Agnew, this studydeveloped 2 hypotheses to test the associations. Results of this study provided supportiveevidence for the two hypothesis and the applicability of GST in explaining the nexusamong school bullying, depression, and adolescents’suicidal thoughts. That is, depressioncompletely mediated the association between school bullying victimization and suicidalthoughts as GST proposed. Also, depression partly mediated the link between parentalattachment and suicidal thoughts. Implications of the findings are discussed, including theimportance of examining the role of gender in the associations in future studies anddeveloping programs considering detecting depression among school bullying victims fora suicide prevention.
