국문 초록

The conflict of political ideology seen in the modern history of Korea is traced back to the relationship between Nationalists and Communists. However, the real identity of the Korean Nationalism is likely to belong to centrists such as Woonhyung Lyuh and Kyusik Kim. This paper aims to investigate again the historic facts that the political leaders after the Korean liberation of 1945 were not united and that General Hodge, the commander in chief during the US military rule, did not look to it that the first Korean democratic government could be established based on the Korean Establishment Preparation Board and the Council of People's Commissars. The second chapter studies the historical events happening among Leftists, Rightists, and centrists centralized on Hodge and Woonhyung Lyuh. The third discusses the maladministration and its effect that the US military government authorities made from the American researchers' angle. Through the analysis, the dynamic will of the Korean people were undermined by the decrease of the neutralist politicians whose interest is merely on the unification of the Korean people, and America is to blame considerably for the painful condition with Russia and inveterate factionalism of the time.
