국문 초록

일제강점기 지정면 공주의 공간변화를 연구하기 위해 토지대장과 지적도를 활용하였다. 공주면의 공간변화는 토지 이용 즉 지목 변환, 필지의 분할과 합병, 토지 소유의 세 지표를 1912년, 1931년, 1945년의 세 시기로 구분하여 분석하였다. 토지 이용은 1912년 필지의 68%를 대지가 차지했지만, 면적으로는 44%를 차지한 밭이 가장 큰 비중을 보였다. 지목 변환은 밭이 대지로 변환이 가장 많았고, 도로로의 변환도 많이 발생하였다. 도시화 과정을 보여주는 필지의 분할은 공주면의 중심지인 본정과 욱정의 좁은 길을 도로로 확장하는 과정에서 많이 발생하였다. 합병은 학교와 교도소의 설치 및 확장 과정에서 이루어졌다. 토지는 조선인이 공주면 전체 토지의 많은 부분을 소유하고 있지만, 일본인은 공주면의 중심지인 본정과 욱정의 토지를 많이 소유하고 있다. 공주면의 공간변화는 1932년에 발생한 충청남도 도청의 대전읍 이전이 크게 영향을 미쳤다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

To study the spatial changes in Gongju-myeon, a designated myeon during the Japanese colonial period, this research utilized land registers and cadastral maps. The spatial transformation of Gongju-myeon was analyzed using three indicators—land use(i.e., land category changes), parcel division and consolidation, and land ownership—across three time points: 1912, 1931, and 1945. In terms of land use, although residential lots accounted for 68% of parcels in 1912, fields made up the largest portion by area, occupying 44%. The most common type of land category conversion was from fields to residential lots, followed by conversions to roads. Parcel divisions, which illustrate the urbanization process, frequently occurred in Bonjeong and Ukjeong, the central areas of Gongju-myeon, especially during road expansion projects. Consolidations took place primarily during the establishment and expansion of schools and prisons. Although Koreans owned the majority of land in Gongju-myeon overall, Japanese individuals owned a significant amount of land in the central areas of Bonjeong and Ukjeong. The spatial changes in Gongju-myeon were notably influenced by the relocation of the Chungcheongnam-do provincial government office to Daejeon-eup in 1932.
