국문 초록

이 연구는 ｢종생기｣가 집필된 시대적 개인적 배경을 고려하여 본문(本文)의 남녀 주인공인 이상(李箱)과 정희의 얼굴 뒤에 숨어있는 사회적이고 정치적인 의미를 추적한다. 이에 따라 서장(序章)에서 조선총독으로 각각 해독된 “희대의 군인 모”와 “레우오치카-애칭 톨스토이”가 본문의 서사에서 남녀 주인공의 캐릭터와 관계 등에 어떻게 “쓰레기”와 “우거지”로 심어졌거나 뿌려졌는지에 관한 그 숨겨진 의미망과 함의를 분석한다. 또한 검열과 탄압이 엄중했던 일제의 권력에 대응하기 위하여, 작가 이상(李箱)이 문학적 전략으로 작품 속에 숨겨놓은 각종의 위장술을 밝힌다.

영문 초록

This study investigates Jongsaenggi within its historical and personal contexts to reveal the social and political meanings embedded behind the two main characters, YiSang and Jeong-hee. It analyzes how “General Mo of the Century” and “Reuočka— nicknamed Tolstoy,” interpreted in the prologue as figures of the Japanese Governor-General, are reconfigured in the narrative as “trash” and “boiled greens,” thereby shaping the protagonists’ identities and relationship. The study also uncovers the literary camouflage strategies employed by YiSang (Monsieur Lichan, Lee Sang) to circumvent the strict censorship and oppression imposed under Japanese colonial rule.
