여가 중심 시대 여가 리터러시 개념과 모델 정립 - Sen의 역량 접근을 기반으로

국문 초록

여가 중심 사회로의 점진적인 변화가 이루어지면서 한국은 『국민여가활성화기본법』을 제정하고, 국민의 여가 향유를 진작시키기 위한 다양한 정책들을 시행하고 있다. 여가 중심 시대에 여가 격차는 중요한 사회 문제이며, 이는 개인의 여가 역량 관점에서 논의될 필요가 있다. 그러나 이제까지 여가학 분야 연구에서는 개인 역량에 주목한 연구가 부족하였다. 먼저, 여가 역량이란 무엇인가에 대한 개념 정의와 그 구성요인에 대한 학자들간의 합의가 우선적으로 필요하다. 이에 단순한 자원 분배보다 개인의 자원 활용 능력을 중요시하는 센(Sen)의 역량 접근을 철학적 기반으로 하여 개인의 여가 역량을 의미하는 여가 리터러시의 개념과 구조를 탐색하고자 하였다. 여가 역량의 개념과 관련된 선행연구를 토대로 매트릭스 분석한 결과, 여가 리터러시를 구성하는 총 14개의 요인으로 정리하였다. 여가 리터러시 정의와 구성요인의 적절성을 평가하기 위해 총 14인의 전문가가 참여한 수정 델파이 조사 결과, ‘개인이 자신의 여가에 대한 기본적 인식과 참여를 기반으로 의미있고 만족스러운 여가생활을 지속 및 확장하는데 필요한 지식, 기술을 포함한 총체적 능력’으로 여가 리터러시를 정의하였고, 총 4개 상위요인(여가 이해, 여가 참여, 여가 지속, 여가 확장)과 12개 하위요인을 도출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 이해→ 참여→ 지속→ 확장이라는 여가 리터러시 함양 과정 모델을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 개인의 여가 이해와 활용 능력에 대한 필요성이 강조되고 있는 가운데, 여가 역량 개념인 ‘여가 리터러시’ 개념을 정립하고 모델을 체계화함으로써 여가학 분야 이론의 종합 및 확장에 기여하였고, 실무적으로는 여가 교육이나 정책 방안 도출의 유용한 기초자료로 사용될 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

As a gradual change to a leisure-centered society takes place, Korea has enacted the Framework Act on the Promotion of Leisure of Citizens and implemented various policies to enhance public leisure opportunities. In this era, the leisure gap has emerged as a significant social issue, which must be addressed from the perspective of individuals' leisure capability. However, research in the field of leisure studies has thus far lacked sufficient focus on individual capabilities. It is therefore essential to define the concept of leisure capability and establish scholarly consensus on its components. Based on Sen’s capability approach—which emphasizes individuals’ ability to utilize resources rather than the mere distribution of resources—this study aimed to explore the concept and structure of leisure literacy, as an indicator of individual leisure capability. Through a matrix analysis of prior studies related to the concept of leisure capability, 14 factors constituting leisure literacy were identified. To evaluate the appropriateness of the definition and components, a modified Delphi survey involving 14 experts was conducted. As a result, leisure literacy was defined as “a comprehensive ability encompassing the knowledge and skills necessary for individuals to sustain and expand a meaningful and satisfying leisure life, based on basic awareness and participation in leisure.” Four higher-order factors (leisure understanding, leisure participation, leisure continuation, and leisure expansion) and 12 sub-factors were ultimately derived. Based on these findings, a developmental model of leisure literacy was proposed, consisting of the stages: understanding → participation → continuation → expansion. This study contributes to the integration and advancement of leisure studies by establishing and systematizing the concept of leisure literacy, a key individual capability in a leisure-oriented society. Practically, it provides valuable foundational data for the development of leisure education and policy initiatives.
