국문 초록

본 연구는 성인기 장애인의 자기개념 형성에 있어 학령기 통합교육의 역할을 실증적으로 검토하기 위해, 장애수용이 자기효능감과 자아존중감에 미치는 영향, 통합교육의 매개 역할, 그리고 특수교육 유형에 따른 구조적 차이를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 한국장애인고용공단이 2023년에 실시한 장애인고용패널조사(PSED) 제8차 자료 중 956명의 데이터를 활용하였으며, SPSS 25.0과 SmartPLS 4.0을 사용하여 기술통계, 일원분산분석(ANOVA), 구조방정식모형, 다집단 분석, 3단계 매개효과 분석 및 Sobel 검정을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 특수교육 유형(일반학급, 특수학급, 특수학교)에 따라 성인기 장애인의 장애수용정도에 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 일반학급(완전통합) 출신이 가장 높은 장애수용 수준을 보였다. 둘째, 장애수용은 자기효능감과 자아존중감 모두에 정적 영향을 미쳤고, 자기효능감에 대한 영향력이 더 강하게 나타났다. 셋째, 완전통합교육 경험은 장애수용과 자기효능감 간 관계에서 유의한 부분 매개효과를 보였으나, 자아존중감과의 관계에서는 매개효과가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 통합교육이 구조적 관계 자체보다는 심리적 경로에서 긍정적으로 작용함을 시사하며, 완전통합 중심의 특수교육 정책의 타당성을 뒷받침하는 실증적 근거를 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to empirically examine the role of inclusive education during school years in shaping self-concept in adulthood among individuals with disabilities. Specifically, it investigated the effects of disability acceptance on self-efficacy and self-esteem, the mediating role of inclusive education, and potential structural differences based on types of special education. Data were drawn from the Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED), conducted by the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities in 2023, comprising a sample of 956 individuals. Analyses were conducted using SPSS 25.0 and SmartPLS 4.0, including descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, structural equation modeling (SEM), multi-group analysis, three-step mediation analysis, and the Sobel test. The results showed that, first, levels of disability acceptance significantly differed by type of special education, with individuals who had experienced regular class placement (full inclusion) demonstrating higher acceptance than those from special schools. Second, disability acceptance had a significant positive effect on both self-efficacy and self-esteem, with a stronger effect observed for self-efficacy. Third, full inclusion experience partially mediated the relationship between disability acceptance and self-efficacy, but no mediating effect was found for self-esteem. These findings suggest that inclusive education contributes more meaningfully to the psychological pathways of self-concept development than to structural differences, offering empirical support for the effectiveness of full inclusion-focused special education policies.
