국문 초록

이 연구는 대학 비교과 교육의 의미를 교양교육과의 관계를 중심으로 고찰하고 평생교육학 관점에서 교육적 의미를 분석함으로써 대학 비교과 교육의 이론적, 실천적 발전방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 비교과 교육과 교양교육의 발전 동향을 검토하고, 평생교육학 연구관점을 바탕으로 비교과 교육의 교육적 기능과 역할을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 비교과 교육은 교양교육과 상호보완적인 관계를 가지며, 시대적 요구와 사회 변화에 따라 지속적으로 의미가 확장·변화하고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 비교과 교육은 학생의 자기주도학습과 평생학습역량 함양을 지원하며, 평생학습사회에서 대학교육 혁신의 견인차 역할을 한다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 평생교육학 관점에서 대학 비교과 교육의 발전과제와 연구방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study explores the meaning of university extracurricular education in relation to liberal education and analyzes its educational significance from a lifelong learning perspective. It examines the developmental trends of extracurricular and liberal education and investigates the educational roles of extracurricular learning through the lens of lifelong education theory. The findings highlight that extracurricular education complements liberal education and evolves in response to societal and educational shifts. It supports students' self-directed and lifelong learning competencies, functioning as a driver of innovation in higher education. Based on these insights, the study proposes strategies such as integrating curricular and extracurricular learning, establishing learner-centered systems, and applying lifelong learning frameworks. The study concludes that extracurricular education should be recognized as a core component of university education in a lifelong learning society, requiring academic and institutional support for its full integration.
