국문 초록

본고는 김안국과 김정국의 수신을 통한 차정신이 어떻게 실천되고 있는가를 연구하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 『모재집』, 『사재집』, 『송와잡설』 등에 기록된 차시와 글을 통해 수신의 실천을 통한 차 정신으로 나타내었다. 김안국과 김정국 형제는 『소학』과 『주자가례』를 도입하여 성리학 사상을 실천할 수 있는 근거를 마련한 학자들이다. 특히 수기치인(修己治人)으로 자신의 도덕성을 수양함으로써 타인을 다스리고 사회를 이롭게 한다는 원칙을 담고 있기에 그들은 수신의 가치를 더욱 중요시하였다. 이렇듯 사상의 내용보다는 실천에 집중하였던 그들의 차생활과 수신의 실천 사상을 교육과 나눔, 여유와 검소, 초월적인 내면의 성장으로 나타내었다. 그들의 차생활을 통해 물질적인 것에 대한 집착을 버리고, 진정한 삶의 본질을 이해하고자 했던 수신의 실천을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 단순한 음료를 넘어, 그들 삶의 실천적 철학을 반영하며, 차를 통해 더 깊은 수기치인의 의미를 찾으려는 노력을 알 수 있었다. 차인 형제 김안국과 김정국은 어려운 시기의 상황과 감정을 차와 함께 기울이며 자연과 교감을 나누는 격조 높은 차생활을 했었다. 이는 현대 사회에서도 차생활을 통한 수신의 가치로 자리 잡을 수 있다. 그러므로 이들의 차생활이 오늘날에도 삶의 지혜와 자연과의 조화를 추구하는 중요한 문화적 유산으로 여겨지기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine how the tea spirit of Kim An-guk and Kim Jeong-guk is practiced through cultivation of the self(修身). The research method involves analyzing tea poems and writings recorded in Mojaejip, Sajaejip, and Songwajapseol, which reflect the practice-oriented philosophy of self-cultivation. The brothers Kim An-guk and Kim Jeong-guk introduced Sohak and Ju-Ja Garae provide a foundation for the practical application of Neo-Confucian thought. Particularly emphasizing the principle of “cultivating oneself and governing others” (修己治人), they believed that by nurturing their own morality, they could lead others and contribute to society. Their tea culture, which prioritized practical application over abstract thought, manifested values such as education, sharing, leisure, frugality, and harmonious unity between heaven and humans. Through their tea practices, they discarded material attachment and sought to understand the essence of true life, embodying the philosophy of self-cultivation. Beyond simply a beverage, tea reflected their practical life philosophy and their efforts to find deeper meaning in the concept of “cultivating oneself and governing others.” The tea lives of the brothers Kim An-guk and Kim Jeong-guk, which provided solace during challenging times and fostered a refined communion with nature, can be seen as a high-class form of tea culture. This legacy of tea culture still holds value today, offering a means of self-cultivation and wisdom in pursuit of harmony with nature. It is hoped that their tea culture will be regarded as an important cultural heritage that continues to promote the values of wisdom and natural harmony in contemporary society.
