해외 한국어 동료 튜터링(peer tutoring)의 효율성과 방향성 - 대만 한국어 학습자를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 대만 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 실시한 동료튜터링을 바탕으로 해외 한국어 동료 튜터링의 효율성과 방향성을 제시하는 데 목적을 두었다. 동료튜터링은 선행학습을 한 튜터가 학습자의 부족한 영역을 도와주는 학습 보조 활동으로 튜터와 학습자의 참여 만족도가 매우 높다. 해외 한국어 동료 튜터링은 상호 문화 교류나 한국어 능력 향상을 원하는 학생이 참여하므로 대부분 긍정적인 성과를 얻을 수 있다. 한국어 동료 튜터링으로 학습자는 한국인 모어 화자와 대면하여 한국어를 학습할 수 있고 튜터는 해외 환경과 문화에 적응하기 위해 도움을 받을 수 있기 때문이다. 그러나 한국어 동료 튜터링에서 학습자는 튜터를 동료보다 교수자의 역할을 기대하여 튜터와 학습자 간의 동료성(peerness)이 약화되며 지시적 튜터링을 선호하는 경향을 보였다. 튜터는 한국어 모어 화자이지만 한국어에 대한 전문 지식이 없으므로 도와줄 수 있는 한계를 보였다. 그러므로 운영 기관은 외적 체계와 내적 체계를 조화롭게 운영해야 한다. 튜터는 한국어교육 관련 자료 및 보충 교육을 실시하고, 학습자에게는 비지시적 튜터링의 기능을 인지시키는 교육이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the efficiency and direction of Overseas Korean Peer tutoring (OKPT) for Korean language learners. Peer tutoring is a learning assistance activity in which a tutor who has previously studied helps a tutee. Since OKPT involves students who want to have cultural exchanges or improve their Korean language skills, most of the participants were able to achieve positive results. Tutees can learn Korean with native Korean speakers, and tutors can receive help to adapt to the overseas environment and culture. However, in Korean peer tutoring, tutees expect tutors to be experts rather than peers, and they prefer directive tutoring. Although tutors are native Korean speakers, they have limited help because they do not have specialized knowledge of Korean. Therefore, the assignment organization should harmoniously operate external and internal systems. Tutors need to be provided with Korean language education-related materials and supplementary education, and training is needed to provide tutees with the function of indirect tutoring.
