국문 초록

This study examines the changes in consumption expenditure patterns of Korean farm households using age-period-cohort (APC) analysis. Utilizing data from the Farm Household Economy Survey from 2008 to 2022, we decomposed the changes in various expenditure categories into age, cohort, and period effects. Our findings reveal that age effects are most prominent, with total consumption peaking at ages 55-59. Food and healthcare expenditures increase with age, while education and transportation costs decrease. Cohort effects show older generations spending more on food, housing, and healthcare, while younger generations prioritize other consumption and non-consumption expenditures. Period effects are less pronounced but show notable changes in some categories, particularly after 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings have important implications for agricultural and rural policies, especially regarding healthcare provision, education support, and improving mobility and communication access for elderly farmers.
