생물다양성 보전에 대한 초등학교 교사의 지식, 인식, 태도 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 서울지역 초등교사들의 생물다양성 보전에 대한 지식, 인식, 태도를 조사하고, 생물다 양성 보전에 대한 영역별 상관관계를 알아봄으로써 초등교사 양성기관 및 초등교사 연수 교육 등 에 있어 환경교육의 방향 결정에 필요한 자료를 제공하기 위하여 수행하였다. 이러한 목적을 위하 여 초등학교 교사 133명을 대상으로 설문조사하여 생물다양성 보전에 대한 지식, 인식, 태도를 비교분석하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 분석된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등교사들의 생물다양성 보전에 대한 지식에 관한 하위 영역 중 생물보전의 중요성에 관 한 지식수준은 높으나 고유종 및 외래종, 귀화식물과 생물이 멸종하는 까닭에 관한 지식수준은 낮 은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 생물다양성 보전에 대한 인식 및 태도에 관한 하위 영역 중 생물다양 성의 가치 및 실천에 참여하려는 태도가 가장 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 생물다양성 보전에 대한 지식, 인식, 태도는 성별에 따른 차이가 없었으나, 교육경력이 많은 초등학교 교사가 교육경력이 적은 교사보다 생물다양성 보전에 대한 태도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 환경교육 경험이 있는 집 단이 없는 집단보다 생물다양성 보전에 대한 태도가 높았으며, 경험이 있는 집단 중에서도 환경교 육 관련 연수를 받은 집단에서 태도가 가장 높게 나타났다. 넷째, 생물다양성 보전에 대한 지식, 인식, 태도에 관한 상관관계 분석 결과, 지식과 인식, 인식과 태도의 상관관계는 정적 상관관계가 있지만, 지식과 태도사이에는 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 얻게 된 결론을 종합적으로 볼 때 초등학교에서는 거의 모든 교과를 담임교 사가 가르치기 때문에 초등교사 양성기관의 교육과정 및 현직교사 대상의 연수 과정에서 생물다 양성 교육 강화를 통해 생물다양성 보전과 관련된 지식수준을 향상시킬 필요성이 있는 것으로 사 료된다. 그리고 생물다양성 보전에 대한 인식과 태도를 향상시키기 위하여 생물다양성이 손실되는 다양한 원인과 이를 보전하는 올바른 방법에 대해 바람직한 인식과 태도의 변화를 유도할 수 있 는 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the elementary school teachers` knowledge, awareness and attitude on the importance of biodiversity conservation. The teachers chosen for purposive sampling work for the elementary schools in Seoul. 133 questionnaires were used for analysis among the 150 questionnaires collected during the study. Their knowledge, awareness and attitude on biodiversity conservation was measured through 30 questions consisted of 9 items for knowledge category, 9 items for awareness category, and 12 items for attitude category with 4 demographic variables. Statistical analysis was conducted on each of the variables that make up knowledge, awareness and attitude of biodiversity conservation through means, t test, F distribution, Scheffe test and Pearson correlation through I-STATistics program. The conclusion of this research is as follows. First, according to the result of the survey on the knowledge, awareness and attitude of the elementary school teachers, they had a high level of knowledge on importance of conservation biodiversity but low level of knowledge about endemic species, exotic species and naturalized plant, and the reason why they became extinct species. They were most aware of the value of biodiversity, and they took the best attitude toward participation to action. There was no difference of elementary school teachers` knowledge, awareness and attitude of biodiversity conservation between genders. As for the impact of teaching career, the teachers who have longer career had higher than the others who have shorter career in attitude of biodiversity conservation. In regard to the influence of the environmental education experience, the teachers who had experience about environmental education had higher attitude of biodiversity conservation than that of the others who didn`t have. The teachers who had training of environmental education have the best attitude of biodiversity conservation. Second, concerning the correlation of knowledge, awareness and attitude of biodiversity conservation, there was a positive correlation between their knowledge and awareness as well as between their awareness and attitude, but their was no link between knowledge and attitude.
