한국어 학습자 형성 어휘의 생산성과 수용성 - 접두파생어를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 글은 외국인 한국어 학습자의 임시어 형성과 그에 대한 한국어 모어 화자의 수용성에 관한 것이다. 그를 위하여 먼저 학습자 말뭉치를 바탕으로 접두파생어 형성의 생산성을 측정하였다. Baayen(1989)와 이광호(2007), 김민국(2009)의 방법론을 연구 대상 말뭉치에 맞게 적용하기 위해 생산성 측정 방법을 ‘P = 임시어의 수(임시어는 사전 미등재어로 상정)/파생어의 총수(파생어의 총수가 40 이상인 경우로 한정함)’로 제안하였다. 생산성을 측정한 결과 전반적으로 부정 접두사의 생산성이 높은 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이와 같이 생산성이 높은 접사들은 학습자가 느끼는 난도가 낮다고 볼 수 있으므로 한국어 표현 교육에서 먼저 활용할 수 있다. 다음으로는 학습자 형성 임시어에 대한 한국어 모어 화자의 수용성을 비교하였다. 그 결과 학습자의 임시어는 수용률이 100%인 것에서부터 거의 받아들여지지 않는 것까지 그 배열이 아주 넒은 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 보았을 때 한국어 학습자가 형성하는 어휘는 기존 어휘와 임시어, 그리고 오류의 세 층위로 구분할 수 있으며, 그 경계에 있는 단어들이 상당하여 오류와 오류가 아닌 것의 구분이 어렵다. 본고는 이상의 논의를 바탕으로 한국어 어휘 교육에서 단어를 단순한 암기의 대상으로 볼 것이 아니라 단어 형성의 측면에서도 접근할 수 있다는 입장을 취하였다.

영문 초록

This study is about the formation of nonce words by foreign learners of Korean, and how native Korean speakers judge them as acceptable. First, the productivity of prefixes was measured based on the learner’s corpus. This study proposed a productivity measurement method as “the number of the nonce words/token frequency of the derivatives.” As a result, overall, the productivity of negative prefixes was high. The high productivity affixes are less difficult for learners, and can therefore be used first in Korean expression education. Next, the acceptability of Korean native speakers for learner-forming words was compared. As a result, it was confirmed that the learner-forming word has a very large spectrum, ranging from very natural to very awkward, to the native Korean speaker. Based on this, the words produced by foreign learners of Korean can be divided into three levels: listed words, nonce words, and errors. It was noted that there are words between the boundaries, and the distinction between errors and non-errors is ambiguous. Based on the above discussion, this study took the position that words can be approached in terms of word formation, not just as the object of memorization in Korean vocabulary education.
