국문 초록

이 글은 해방기 출간된 최화성(崔華星, 1923-?)의『조선여성독본』(1949)의 내용적 구성 및 시대적 의의를 살펴본다. 당대 최화성은 월북 전까지 고명자와 더불어 여성 사회주의자로서 자신의 사상 및 이론을 당대 매체 장에 제출했던 여성필진이었다. 『조선여성독본』은 좌파 전위시인 김상훈의 출판사인 백우사에서, 무엇보다 김기림의 발문으로 출간됐다는 점에서 주목을 요한다. 이 책은 일반 여성대중을 대상으로 하는 기능적인 의미의 독본이라기보다는 당대 여성 엘리트로서 해방된 조선에서 스스로가 어떤 여성이 되어야하는지를 드러내는 자기선언에 가까웠다. 이는 식민과 냉전 체제에서는 불가능했던, 해방이라는 짧은 순간에야 가능했던 사회주의 여성론에 다름없다. 그런데 신인에 가까웠던 약관의 저자 최화성이 누구인가는 아직 비밀에 쌓여있다. 그러나 그가 바로 독립촉성애국부인회 위원장인 박승호의 첫째딸이라는 점은 연구자의 상상력을 촉발한다. 다시 말해 해방기 신인 여성 사회주의자 필자와 당대 우파 여성운동의 거두라는, 부녀 간 좌우 사상 및 진영 분기가 일어난 것이다. 이는 아버지와 아들 등 세대 간 이념 투쟁을 민족의 비극으로, 그리하여 민족주의적 당위로 전유했던 서사적 지평에서는 떠오르지 않았던 지점이기도 하다. 따라서 이 글은 여성 세대 간 다른 주체의 역사적 변형을 통해 해방기라는 전환기, 여성 지식인의 정체성이 재구성되는 맥락 역시 가늠해보고자 했다.

영문 초록

This article examines the contents and significance of Choi Hwa-sung (1923-?)'s The Reader of Joseon Women(1949). She was a young writer who published his thoughts and theories in newspapers and magazines as a socialist feminist until he defected to North Korea. The Reader of Joseon Women(1949) deserves attention in that it was published by Baekwoosa, the publishing company of avant-garde poet Kim Sang-hoon, with an epigraph by Kim Ki-rim. However, this book was more of a self-declaration that revealed what women we should become after the liberation period as elite women, rather than a general reading book for the public women. This was a socialist feminist theory that could only be proposed in the short moment of liberation when it was impossible to express it in the colonial and Cold War systems. However, Choi Hwa-sung was a newcomer who had not appeared before, and until now, exactly who she was still shrouded in mystery. It was recently revealed that she is the first daughter of Park Seung-ho, the chairman of the Independence Promotion Patriotic Women’s Association, which sparked the researcher's imagination. During the liberation period, the left-right ideological divergence occurred between mother and daughter, who are the young socialist feminist writer and the leader of the right-wing women's movement. This is also an unspoken part of the grand narratives that often appropriated the ideological struggle between fathers and sons or brothers as a national tragedy. Therefore, this article attempted to assess how women belonging to different generations reconstructed themselves ideologically during the historical transition period.
