국문 초록

본 연구에서는 성인 성폭력 피해자의 외상후스트레스에 미치는 영향요인을 파악하고, 영향요인 중 ‘2차피해’를 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구는 성폭력 피해 경험에 대한 인지적 반응을 통해 성폭력 피해 후유증으로 이어지는 경로를 제시하고 있는 통합적 인지행동 수정모델을 기반으로 하여 ‘성폭력 피해자 현황과 피해유형별 특성에 대한 기초조사 분석 연구’의 연구데이터를 활용해 성인 성폭력 피해자 134명을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 성폭력 피해 경험에 대한 주변인의 반응에 따라 자신의 피해 경험을 재평가 하게 되고, 이는 외상후스트레스와 같은 성폭력 피해 후유증에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 이에 성폭력 피해자가 경험하는 2차피해는 자신이 속한 체계에서 주변인의 반응, 법적 체계와 같은 수사절차, 의료적 체계와 같은 지원 서비스 등을 통해 기인한다는 것을 알 수 있다. 그러므로, 성폭력 2차피해의 형태 파악과 개별화된 접근 방안 마련을 위하여, 성폭력 피해자의 보호 및 2차피해 예방과 관련한 정책적 노력이 뒷받침될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study is to identify the factors that are associated with post-traumatic stress among adult survivors of sexual violence, with a specific emphasis on the phenomenon known as ‘secondary victimization’. We conducted an analysis on 134 adult survivors of sexual violence, using a cognitive-behavioral modification model that examines the relationship between cognitive responses to sexual violence experiences and their subsequent effects. This analysis was based on data obtained from a preliminary survey study that explored the characteristics of sexual violence victims, categorized by the type of victimization. The study findings suggest that individuals tend to reevaluate their own experiences of victimization based on the responses of others, leading to a detrimental effect on post-traumatic stress, such as trauma. Therefore, secondary victimization endured by survivors of sexual abuse arises from elements within their environment, including responses from those around them, legal protocols such as investigative procedures, and support services such as medical systems. Hence, in order to recognize the many manifestations of secondary victimization in cases of sexual violence and develop personalized strategies, it is imperative to implement legislative initiatives that safeguard the well-being of survivors and mitigate the occurrence of secondary victimization.
