화법에서 문법의 기능에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

목적: 문법이 음성 언어 의사소통 상황에서 의미를 구성하고 사회적 실천 맥락을 형성하며, 문법이 화법을 점검하고 조정하는 과정에서 활용되는 양상을 분석함으로써, 화법에서의 문법의 기능을 고찰한다. 방법: 화법과 문법의 과정과 기능 범주 간의 관계를 바탕으로, 담화의 생산과 수용을 통한 의미 구성, 사회적 상호작용으로서의 화법, 화법의 점검과 조정 범주에서 문법의 기능을 분석하였다. 결과: 1) 의미 구성 차원에서는 담화 내용 이해를 위한 담화 표지, 담화의 응집성 장치로서 어휘와 통사 구조, 추론적·비판적 듣기와 언어적 표현 전략으로서 어휘와 문법 요소의 사용, 문장 성분의 전치를 제시하였다. 2) 사회적 상호작용 차원에서는 공손성 기능으로서 서법의 변화, 높임 선어말 어미 ‘-시-’의 선택적 실현, 보조용언의 사용, 자기표현 기능으로서 감정 어휘 교육을 제안하였다. 3) 화법의 점검과 조정 차원에서도 문법이 메타언어적 기능을 한다. 결론: 화법의 여러 과정과 기능 차원에서 문법이 다양하게 기능하는 양상을 분석하였으며, 이를 통해 문법이 의사소통에 필요한 전략적 표현 자원이자 사고력 향상의 자원임을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the function of grammar in speech communication. Methods: In order to accomplish this study purpose, the function of grammar was analyzed in the categories of meaning construction through the production and acceptance of discourse, speech communication as social interaction, and speech communication inspection and adjustment. Results: The findings of analysis showed that 1) In terms of meaning constuction, the use of vocabulary and syntactic structure as a device for cohesion of discourse, the use of vocabulary and grammatical elements as inferential and critical listening and verbal expression strategies, and the transposition of sentence components were suggested. 2) In terms of social interaction, the change of mood as a function of politeness, the selective realization of pre-final ending ‘-si-’, the use of auxiliary verbs, and the education of emotional vocabulary as a self-expression function were proposed. 3) Grammar also functions as a meta-lingual strategy in terms of checking and adjusting speech communication. Conclusion: It was confirmed that grammar is both a strategic expression resource necessary for communication and a resource for improving thinking ability through the analysis of the various processes and functional dimensions of speech communication.
