영문 초록

In movies, the characters are an important factor, leading the composition and its story. Characters have an intimate relationship with description of personalities, and the age, background, academic history, and occupation of characters become the data to understand them. Personality, according to the dictionary, is the 'unique nature, character, of individuals,' or the continuous, consistent style of actions defining each individual. However, the characters in movies are made by the contemplation of people, in other words a form of artificialness; therefore, although considerable time and efforts are concentrated to construct these personalities, it is prone to violate such concept of personality. Consequently, it is crucial to examine the consistency of these artificial characters. Enneagram is known as the classification of personality into 9 categories, or types, and suggests a diversity of methods in understanding personalities. Enneagram, by illustrating the fundamental personality types, emphasizes the integrative comprehension of humans, distinctive from other personality type classification method. This suggests the vigorous aspect of human personalities, which is not fixed to a sole condition, and is perceived to agree with the integrative personality theory of the East. Therefore, in this study, the 9 types of human personalities are classified by the Enneagram theory, and the characters in the movie are substituted in the Enneagram to examine how the consistency of the characters are maintained. Moreover, by indicating the discrepancies of contradictory characters, this study will contribute in casting and character formation of movie making in the future.
