국문 초록

우리나라 사회．경제의 저성장．고령화현상이 갈수록 심화되고 있는 상황에서, 본연구는 저성장·고령화환경이 보험사의 주요 경영성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보기 위해 실증분석을 수행하고, 이와 관련된 경영전략적·정책적 시사점을 모색하였다. 국내 보험사를 대상으로 한 분석의 경우 전반적으로 고령화의 진전은 보험사의 성장성 및 수익성에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 글로벌 보험사에 대한 분석의 경우도 국내 보험사를 대상으로 한 분석결과를 상당 부분 확인할 수 있었으며, 특히 실질GDP 증가율변수가 수익성지표와 유의미한 정(+)의 관계를 나타냄을 발견할 수 있었다. 국내 보험사뿐만 아니라 글로벌 보험사를 대상으로 한 분석결과에서 고령화·저성장환경은 전반적으로 보험사의 성장성 및 수익성에 부정적 영향을 초래하는 것으로 나타남에 따라, 다양한 부문에서의 경쟁력 제고 및 신성장동력 창출이 그 어느 때 보다 긴요하다 할 것이다.

영문 초록

In this study, an empirical analysis is conducted on how the current environment of low growth and aging population affect insurance companies＇ business performance, to propose management strategies and policy measures. First, the analysis of domestic insurance companies showed that the aging population had a negative impact on their business growth and profitability. Next, the analysis of global insurance companies largely confirmed the analysis results of domestic insurers. In particular, the growth rate of real GDP showed a positive correlation with insurance companies＇ profitability indicators at a significant level. As the analysis of both domestic and global insurance companies indicates that the current trend of low growth and aging population negatively affects insurance companies’ business growth and profitability, it is critical for insurers to make diversified efforts to strengthen competitive edge and identify new growth engines.
