영문 초록

From the colonial period in Acadia, francophone writings widely spread across Canada. Adventure stories with romantic overtone-s prevailed and largely inspired patriotism. The Quiet Revolution and the referendum on the independence of Quebec opened up new mode-s of creative writings to novelists. Shifts in the literary imagination in the French Canadian novel owe much to the spiritual quests for the identity of the French. The literature of Canada’s francophone communities have more than one trait in common with the development of Québécois literature. No single characteristic encapsulates the diversity and variety of the French language fictional prose. The coastal landscapes of British Columbia, novels of the land in New Brunswick, and other local imaginative writings show local colors through the diversity of lexis and the plurality of narratives. Québécois literature and the imaginary writings of other French Canadian literature have been obsessed with linguistic and cultural survival and are preoccupied with identity. Québécois and francophone Canadian novels show historical memories, reaffirm or dismantle distinctive identities, valorize linguistic differences, and demonstrate(no s) the dynamic life patterns of French language culture in Canada.
