영문 초록

African arts are Macond wood, Zimbabwean stone and Tingatinga painting. Macond wood art is highly collectible all over the world because of its exaggerated artistic form, bizarre expressive technique, and relatively expensive carving materials. Traditional African furniture is so outdated that it lacks practicality. Some European and American galleries have fused Macond wood with modern furniture to create furniture with a distinctive African art style. This fusion style furniture not only catches the attention of ordinary consumers, but also attracts the attention of large furniture brands from around the world. IKEA launched the Överallt furniture series in collaboration with African designers in February 2019. And it was well received by consumers. I believe that in the future, more furniture designers will be inspired by African art like Picasso and Gauguin, and African art will become a new breakthrough and inject new inspiration into furniture design. This thesis selects Macond wood, a modern African art, as a theme and explores its convergence in modern furniture.
