백제어 자음 /p/와 일본어 자음 /h/의 대응관계 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 백제어의 자음체계를 고찰하고, 백제어 자음 /p/에서 유래한 것처럼 보이는 일본어어휘 속의 자음 분절음 /h/가 어떻게 현재의 그것으로 정착되었는지를 분석하고자 하는 것이다. 또한 그러한 변천의 통시적, 공시적 근거 및 문자체계상의 근거를 제시하고, 그 정착과정을 최적이론으로써 분석하고자 한다. 백제어 /p/에 근원을 둔 현대 일본어 어휘 속의 /h/가 분절음 최적성(segmental optimality)과 관련된 제약서열의 변동에 의하여 현재의 일본어 어휘 안에 정착되었음을 보임으로써 일본어의 일부 어휘의 어원이 백제어에 있음을 증명하고자 한다. 이러한 분석이 여전히 논쟁이 분분한 한국어와 일본어의 역사적 관련성에 조금이나마 근거를 부여할 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to provide an analysis of how the segment /p/ in Old Korean Baekje has been settled down as /h/ in Japanese in the framework of Optimality Theory. I suggest not only diachronic and synchronic evidence but also strong evidence in Japanese writing system of syllabary for this historical sound change. It has been believed that the segment /h/ in some Japanese words has its origin in the Korean segment /p/, but no scholar suggested a systematic analysis on the basis of phonological theory. I explain how the Old Korean /p/ had been transformed into /h/ in Japanese by constraint reranking, providing diachronic and synchronic evidence, and prove that some Japanese words with /h/ have their origin at the Korean words with /p/. Finally, I verify that the etymology of some Japanese vocabulary lies in Old Korean, Baekje. I hope this might provide some evidence to Korean and Japanese historical connections which are still debated in both countries.
