국문 초록

본 논고는 고린도전서에서 거울 읽기의 타당성을 검토하고, 그것을 고린도전서 1:10-4:21에 적용하여 본문 해석의 지평을 넓히려는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 필자는 거울 읽기에 관한 다양한 견해들을 고찰하고 고린도전서에서 그 방법의 타당성을 개진한다. 또한 고린도전서 1장 11절에 언급된 고린도 교회의 분쟁에 관한 상황을 구체적으로 재구성하고, 그것을 1:10-4:21 본문의 논지와 문맥 이해 및 본문 해석에 적용한다. 논문은 바울서신의 거울 읽기에 부정적인 학자들의 견해와 비판적으로 수용하는 학자들의 견해를 다룬다. 그리고 고린도전서에서 거울 읽기의 타당성을 고찰하고, 그 한 예로 1:10-4:21 본문의 역사적 상황을 재구성한다. 바울이 글로에의 집사람들을 통해 들은 소식의 구체적인 상황을 본문에 근거하여 추론한다. 결국, 본문의 거울 읽기는 고린도 교회 지도자들이 분쟁으로 심각한 상태에 이르렀고, 그 분쟁은 복음전파의 형식과 관련한 논쟁이었다는 결론을 제시한다. 이러한 거울 읽기에 근거하여, 본 논고는 본문의 문맥적 흐름이나 논지, 본문 해석을 재조명한다. 결론적으로, 거울 읽기 는 본문에 명시되지 않은 본문의 역사적 배경을 유추하는 것이므로 방법론적 한계를 지닌다고 할 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 해석자가 본문의 상황을 주의 깊게 그리고 설득력 있게 재구성한다면, 그 작업은 본문 해석에 통찰력을 제공하고 도움이 될 것이다. 본 논문이 고린도전서의 거울 읽기에 도전이 되고, 고린도전서 1:10-4:21 해석에서 한 걸음 더 나아가는데 촉매 역할을 하길 기대한다.

영문 초록

The aim of this article is to examine the validity of mirror-reading in 1 Corinthians and to broaden the horizon of interpretation of 1 Corinthians 1:10-4:21 based on it. For this purpose, it examines various views on mirror-reading and presents the legitimacy of the method in 1 Corinthians. Also, through a mirror-reading, it reconstructs the situation of quarrelling in the church in Corinth mentioned in 1 Corinthians 1:11, and applies it to the understanding of the text of 1:10-4:21. The thesis, above all, examines a negative view of mirror-reading which denies its validity because of the methodological arbitrariness, and a critically positive view that approaches carefully to the method and suggests various skills, which makes the method more fruitful. Then it analyzes the validity in 1 Corinthians and as a test case of mirror-reading, it reconstructs the historical context of 1:1-4:21. By way of mirror-reading, this article reaches to the view that the quarrelling, which Paul heard a news from Chloe s people, may be the quarrels of the Corinthians church leaders over the method of proclamation the Gospel. On this mirror-reading, it briefly illuminates the flow of the text, its point, and the interpretation of In conclusion, ‘mirror-reading’ is to infer the historical background of the text that is not specified in the text, so it is inevitable to see its methodological limitations. Nevertheless, if the interpreter reconstructs the context of the text carefully and persuasively, the work will be helpful in the interpretation of the text. It is hoped that this paper will challenge the mirror reading of 1 Corinthians and make a step forward in the interpretation of the Epistle.
