영문 초록

A myths & history theme park as one of the 7 leading projects in Jeju Free Int l City is launched. Actually myths are the story of long time ago as well as of nowaday. And myth can be reviewed and written by photographic or interview data presented. So, for good understanding of myth, it is necessary to review it by some ways, including semiotic, visual methods and survey, and so on. And this article aims to understand the Seolmundae myth in Jeju, Korea, using the visual methodology, to review its representation as the response of the myth image in the cultural reproduction perspective. In survey about two different style image, respondents responded differently between type 1(questionnaire of no given words condition) and type 2(questionnaire of given words condition). Respondents of type 2 influenced by the given word, so they took the image as a well-expressed image about Seolmundae myth. On the other hand, type 1 respondents choose the 40s-aged goddess image as a preference image. because there was no given word(Seolmundae Halmang) in the type 1 questionnaire.
