국문 초록

본 논문은 대중음악의 구조적 상황성과 가치론의 문제를 대중예술과 실제음악이라는 두 가지 측면을 통해 살핀다. 체제와 매체의 상황적 변화는 대중음악을 가능하게 했다 이로 인해 대중음악은 생산과 수용의 배타적 이분법을 넘어서는 순환적 구조성을 가지며, 비음악적 요소가 음악실제에 영향을 끼치는 타자적 가치성을 내재한다. 또한, 대중음악에서 사운드와 레코딩은 작품텍스트적인 위상을 갖는다. 중첩매체적 악기로서 마이크로폰의 등장과 목소리 연주방식의 변화는 새로운 상황성을 반영하는 대표적인 실천적 양상이다. 그리고 대중음악에서 규범적 관습은 일원적 구속성을 행사하지 않는다. 대중음악은 개별적 특성과 개성의 표현을 긍정함과 동시에 비환원성을 담보하기 때문이다. 이에 입각하여 음색의 중요성은 일정 경계선 이상으로 높아진다. 그러나 대중음악은 단지 구분적 가치가 아닌 단독적 가치의 음악이다. 대중음악에서 단독성으로서의 지향은 성취되는 것이 아니라 전제된다. 본 논문이 바라보는 대중음악의 가치체계는 단독성의 체계라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper examines subjects of structural situationality and value of popular music through two attributes; popular art and actual music. Popular music gained a new aspect with changed situationality of the regime and media. Popular music has a circulative structure beyond the exclusive dichotomy of production and reception. Also, popular music immanently possesses the alterity value, which means non-musical elements are capable of influencing the actuality of music. Sound, including recoding, has a textual status of work. The appearance of a microphone as a superimposed medium and the new methodology of vocal performance is a representative aspect that reflects changed situationality. In popular music, normative conventions do not exercise monistic binding. Popular music affirms the expression of individual characteristics, personality, and non-reduction. Thus the importance of timbre in popular music rises beyond certain boundaries. Popular music is music of not a discrete value but a singular value, which means the orientation as singularity is not achieved but presupposed. The central thesis of this paper is that the value system of popular music is a system of singularity.
