항공서비스 전공 대학생들의 입학 전-후 직업이미지 차이가 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 항공서비스 전공 대학생들의 입학 전 항공사 객실승무원 이미지에 대한 기대와 입학 후 객실승무원에 대한 이미지의 요인별 불일치가 진로결정에 미치는 영향관계를 GAP모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 조사대상은 항공서비스전공 대학생 중 전문대학교 2,3학년, 4년제 대학교 3,4학년 355명 중 332명의 유효 표본을 분석에 사용하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 입학 전과 후 모두 항공사 객실승무원 직업이미지에 대해 높게 평가된 항목은 “다양한 문화와 문물 경험”, “해외체류 중 여가 및 취미활동”, “많은 여행 기회”, “높은 급여”, “호감 가는 얼굴과 밝은 미소”, “예쁘고 멋짐”, “다양한 언어 구사”, “뛰어난 위기대처 능력”, “선망 받는 직업”, “높은 소속감과 자긍심”을 포함하고 있다. 반면 모두 낮게 평가 된 항목은 “규칙적인 생활”, “스트레스”, “직원간의 관계”를 포함하고 있다. 입학 전-후 항공사 객실승무원 직업이미지 기대불일치(Gap)가 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 도출된 항공사 객실승무원의 직업이미지 요인은 “사회적 평판”, “직업적 혜택”, “업무의 강도”이다. 도출된 요인별 부정적 Gap, 긍정적 Gap이 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 부정적 Gap의 요인 중 직업적 혜택과 업무의 강도는 진로결정수준에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 긍정적 Gap의 모든 요인은 진로결정수준에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 학생들에게 정확한 직업이미지 정보제공 및 진로결정에 대한 시사점과 후속연구에 대한 논의가 제시되었다.

영문 초록

This study examined students whose major is related to in-flight services as to their perceptions of differing job images they have of airline cabin crews before and after their admission to the university. Further, this study also investigated the impacts of such job image gaps on career decision level via a gap analysis. The respondents of this study were a total of 350 students who were enrolled in the flight service management major of several colleges and universities. After dropping incomplete questionnaires, a total of 332 were included for the final analysis. The results showed that highly evaluated image attributes both before and after the admission to the related major include diverse cultural experiences, a number of travel opportunities, participation in leisure activities during the oversea stay, likable look and bright smile, and so on. On the other hand, low image attributes both before and after the admission were a regular life, job stress, and relationship between colleagues. This study also analyzed the impacts of incongruent job images that students have of airline cabin crew before and after the admission to the educational institutions on career decision level. The results of gap analysis revealed that several negative gap factors positively affected career decision level whereas positive gap factors failed to do so. Several management implications were suggested regarding a provision of information for accurate job images and career decision.
