재한 외국인 유학생의 능동적 학업참여를 위한 홀리스틱 교육방안

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국에 재학 중인 재한외국인유학생의 학업경험에 대한 구체적인 탐색을 통해 그들이 직면한 학업경험의 본질과 의미를 파악하고자 하였다. 재한 외국인 유학생과 면담을 토대로 그들이 직면하는 학업 경험을 탐색하였고, 재한 외국인 유학생의 심리사회적 특성의 이해를 돕기 위한 기초자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 현상학적 연구방법으로 연구가 진행되었고. 자료 분석은 Colazzi(1978)의 자료 분석방법을 적용하였다. 연구 참여자는 중국 유학생 2인, 몽골 유학생 2인, 베트남 유학생 2인이고 남성 대학생 1인, 여성 대학생 5인으로 구성되었다. 연구를 위한 질문은 “재한외국인유학생의 학업경험은 어떠한가?”였다. 연구결과 6개의 주제, 15개의 범주, 38개의 하위범주가 나타났다. 드러난 주제는 ‘기대감을 갖고 한국대학을 선택함’,‘ 한국학생은 우리를 좋아하지 않음’, ‘타의에 의해 정해진 학업계획’,‘학업의 어려움을 경험함’, ‘학업에 적극적으로 나아감’, ‘학업이 지속됨’로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 학업경험의 본질과 의미를 도출하였으며 재한외국인 유학생의 능동적인 참여를 위한 방안으로 홀리스틱 교육방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to better understand the essence and meaning of the academic experience of foreign students living in Korea. Based on interviews with foreign students in Korea, they explored the academic experiences the students faced, and attempted to present basic data to help them understand the psychological characteristics of foreign students in Korea. The research used phenomenological research methods to attain this goal. Data analysis method of Colazzi (1978) was also applied. The study participants consisted of two Chinese students, two Mongolian students, and two Vietnamese students, a total of one male and five female students. The question for the study was, What is the academic experience of foreign students living in Korea? The study showed 6 themes, 15 categories, and 38 subcategories. The 6 themes found were (1) Choose a Korean University with Expectation , (2) Korean Students Don t Like Us , (3) Academic Plan Determined by Others , (4) Experience Difficulty , (5) Progressively Academic , and (6) Academic persistence . Based on the results of these studies, the essence and meaning of the academic experience were derived, and a holistic education strategies for active engagement of foreign students in Korea.
