맞벌이 여성의 삶의 만족도에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 맞벌이 부부의 성 역할 인식에서의 불일치와 맞벌이 여성의 실제 가사노동부담의 불일치가 맞벌이 여성들의 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 가사노동부담의 객관적 측면과 주관적 측면을 모두 고려하기 위해 가사노동부담을 가용시간 대비가사노동시간의 비중으로 측정하였으며, 성 역할 인식에 따라 가사분담에 대한 부부의 기대가 달라질 수 있다는 점에서 성 역할 인식을 명시적으로 고려하였다. 이를 위해 통계청의 2014생활시간조사 자료를 활용하여, 부부의 성 역할 인식을 전통적, 갈등적, 평등적인 유형으로 구분하고 가사노동시간 비중과 삶의 만족도 간의 관계를 검토하였다. 분석결과 가사부담비중의 증가는 여성의 삶의 만족도를 낮추고 있었고, 특히 부부의 성 역할 인식이 전통적 유형의 경우에 비해 갈등적 유형과 평등적 유형에서 더욱 낮추고 있었으며, 이러한 차별화는 대체로 가사노동시간 비중이 가용시간의 20%를 넘어가는 지점이었다. 따라서 맞벌이 여성의 삶의 만족도와 관련한 정책적 고려에서 가사분담의 문제는 결코 간과할 수 없는 요인이라는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Previous studies have focused on analyzing the unequal division of housework in explaining the women’s life satisfaction, yet paid little attention to the incongruent situations that surround women. We test the hypothesis that the two incongruent dimensions will decrease working women’s life satisfaction. The one is the incongruence on gender role attitude between wife and husband, the other is the incongruence on the couple’s gender role attitude and the actual share of housework. For this, we employ types of the couple’s gender role attitude types and a relative measure of housework. By using the 2014 Korean Time Use Survey, we analyze the relationship between gender role attitude, the actual share of housework and working women’s life satisfaction. The results show that the conflict gender role attitude between partners has a negative relationship with women’s life satisfaction. Furthermore, women in the egalitarian type are related to lowering life satisfaction due to the discrepancy between gender role attitude and their share burden reality. In particular, women in the conflict and egalitarian type of couples’ gender role significantly decrease their satisfaction level when they have over 20% housework. We discuss the contributions of women’s life satisfaction literature and policy implications of our findings.
