영문 초록

This study investigates the mediating effect of children’s maladaptive emotional regulation in the relationship between mothers’ negative emotionality and young children’s social maladjustment. Data from 547 mothers with 3-, 4-, or 5-year-old children were drawn from 11 different nursery schools located in the city C. The data were analyzed using Pearson’s productive correlation, linear regression, and mediating effect analysis. The results revealed that the mother’s negative emotionality had a direct effect on boys’ and girls’ maladaptive emotional regulation, which was influenced directly by maladaptive emotional regulation. This study found empirical evidence supporting the significance of young children’s maladaptive emotional regulation in association with the mother’s negative emotionality with social maladjustment, regardless of the children’s gender. Further, implications for interventions, as well as avenues for future research are discussed.
