국문 초록

  이 논문은 빅뱅 우주론과 창조 신앙의 대화에 참여함에 있어 한국 신학적 맥락에서 기 우주론적 관점을 제시함으로써 과학과 종교의 간학제적 토론의 지평을 넓히고자 한다. 빅뱅 우주론에서는 급팽창 이론을 채택하여 무에서 물질이 생겨났다고 설명하는데, 여기서 필자는 무로부터 창조 신앙이 단지 초대 기독교 사상가들이 만들어낸 관념의 산물만은 아니라, 이 우주의 의존성을 깨닫게 해주는 신학적 함축성을 원어 내고자 한다. 신유교의 기 우주론은 우주의 삼라만상이 하나의 일기(一氣)의 운행에 따라 생성하고 흥망하며 소멸하는 것으로 설명한다. 빅뱅 우주론에서 특이점과 기 우주론에서의 태극(무극) 개념은 모두 우주의 출발과 존재하는 모든 실재의 근원을 지시한다는 점에서 공통점을 갖는다. 무와 유는 상반되는 것이 아니라 근본적으로 하나이며, 무로부터의 창조 신앙도 역시 긍정될 수 있을 것이라고 주장한다.

영문 초록

  Among the several significant issues in the disciplinary research between science and religion, this thesis concern about the theological reflection upon the modern scientific cosmology and belief in creation. Particularly this thesis focuses on the inflationary theory in Big Bang cosmology and the creation ex nihilo (creation from nothing) in belief in creation. In participating into the interdisciplinary dialogue, this thesis is seriously aware of the demand to participate from the diverse religious-cultural contexts in order to fertilize this debate. Hence, three different points of view from science, Christian theology and Confucianism will be dealt in relation to cosmology. This thesis is constructed with three sections; 1) Big Bang cosmology and creation from nothing, 2) Chi"i cosmology and its ideas relating to the beginning and eschatology, 3) a comparative debate between singular point and t"aichi (supreme ultimate).
  Throughout these examinations this thesis suggests that Big Bang cosmology has somehow consonance with belief in creation from nothing. The concept of singular point in Big Bang cosmology can be concord with t"aichi (supreme ultimate) in ch"i cosmology. These conclusions suggest the necessity of ongoing participation into the science and religion dialogue from the East Asian scholars having the different religious-cultural context from the Western, which promises more productive debates in this interdisciplinary research.
