영문 초록

In modern times, a individual’s personality is particularly emphasized so that a unique and distinctive aspect can be a great element. For example, art deco trends and styles were applied to diverse aesthetic fields and brought changes across society including art, handicraft, architecture, automobile and living. These art deco styles, which pursue functional and linear beauty while embracing past tradition, have given inspiration to various hairstyles as well as to many modern industries. Under these circumstances, this study attempted to investigate special hairstyles with an art deco style as a motif, and the results found the following: First, unique, creative styles were created based on simple, geometric art deco figures and patterns, using dreadlocks and cornrows. Second, unique, creative styles were created based on simple, geometric art deco figures and patterns using afro-perms and cornrows. Third, unique, creative styles were created based on exotic art deco figures and patterns using a braiding technique. Fourth, unique, creative styles were created based on fancy and ornamental art deco buildings and pictures using hair extensions. As a result, this study has created creative styles by applying art deco trends, architecture, handicraft, pictures and patterns to hair. It’s anticipated that there would be continued studies on diverse techniques and styles for the reinterpretation of formative art deco features and styles in modern hairstyling techniques. It’s also expected that such new attempts and techniques would make a contribution to the development of special hairstyles.
