사회복지조직에서의 관리와 리더십 : 개념과 관련 현상에 대한 논의 및 연구현황 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 사회복지조직을 포함한 모든 형태의 조직에서 매우 중요하게 기능하는 현상이라 할 수 있는 관리(management) 및 리더십(leadership)에 관한 것이다. 이 두 현상에 대한 논의를 해온 문헌의 고찰과 함께 사회복지조 직을 대상으로 한 관리역량과 리더십역량 관련 경험적 연구결과에 대한 종합적 분석을 통해 두 개념과 관련해서 논의해 볼 필요성이 있는 바를 정리해 본다. 우리나라 사회복지조직을 대상으로 수행된 연구 중 관리와 리더십 이란 주제를 포괄하는 98개의 최근까지의 연구 내용을 분석해 본 결과, 관리 관련 연구는 전혀 존재하지 않는 상태인 것으로 파악된다. 한편 리더십 연구에서는 주제와 연구 내용을 살펴볼 때 현실에서 쉽게 관찰하기 어려운 리더십 형태라 할 수 있는 변혁적 리더십(transformational leadership)에 집중 되어 연구가 진행되고 있음이 파악된다. 본 연구는 상호 보완 및 보충적 관계에 있어야만 하는 관리와 리더십을 사회복지행정 교육 및 연구 영역에서 균형적으로 이해하며 적용해 나갈 필요성이 있음을 지적하면서 향후의 지속된 논의의 기초를 마련하는 데 기여한다.

영문 초록

This study attempts to promote current understanding on complementary and supplementary relationship between management and leadership in Korean social service organizations. For the study goal, this study conducts literature review on the relationship between management and leadership and analyzes 98 research results which have dealt with management or leadership related to Korean social service organizations. Unfortunately, there is no research on management capacity and behavior in social service organizations. In addition, the content of research on leadership is very much concentrated on transformational leadership which is very difficult to observe in organizational settings. This study emphasizes new perspective which highlights a balanced relationship between management and leadership in Korean social service organizations. Simultaneously, this study provides new knowledge foundation on the topic and discusses agenda to upgrade management and leadership capacities of middle and top managers in social service organizations in the aspects of education and research.
