대학생의 노인대상 자원봉사 참여 경험에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 고령화로 인해 노인부양문제가 점차 사회문제로 부각되고 대학의 봉사기능이 강조되면서 대학생들의 자원봉사활동 참여 분위기가 확산되고 있는 가운데 최근의 이러한 두 흐름을 연결시켜 대학생의 노인대상 자원봉사활동 참여 경험을 질적 연구를 이용하여 심층적으로 살펴보았다. 96명의 대학생들을 대상으로 그들의 봉사활동 보고서를 분석해 본 결과, 대학생들의 노인대상 자원봉사활동 참여 경험은 심리적인 부담, 교육적 성찰의 기회, 덤으로 얻어지는 보상, 대인관계에서의 보람, 노인세대와의 관계 증진, 자기 향상, 이타주의 정신 함양 등 7가지로 범주화되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이와 더불어 특히 노인과의 좋은 관계 형성, 자기성장과 발전, 유용감, 적재적소 배치, 자원봉사관리자의 인정과 보상 등과 같은 요인들이 대학생들의 노인대상 봉사참여 지속의지에 영향을 주는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 대학생들의 노인대상 봉사활동 참여가 고령화로 인한 노인문제를 완화시킬 수 있는지 그 가능성을 검토하고, 더불어 대학생의 노인대상 자원봉사활동 활성화방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The support for the aged is gradually increased as the social problem due to the aging of the population, and as the service function of the university is emphasized, the college students who participate in the volunteering activity are more and more increased. So, the purpose of this study was to analyze the volunteering activity participation experience for the aged among the university students. Data were obtained from analysis of reports of 96 university students who had participated in the volunteering activities for the aged. The results of this study were as follows. In this study, generally the university students who participated in the volunteering activities for the aged had seven kinds of experience: psychological burden, academic achievement, receiving the rewards, pleasure in interpersonal relationships, enhancement in relationship with the aged, the personal growth, improvement in altruism. And it was revealed that the close relationship with the aged, the personal growth, the feeling of usefulness, the appropriate placement and the manager s recognition were main effect on the will for continuing volunteering activity. I suggested several implications for future research and policy of university students volunteering for the aged based on these results. And the possibility was looked into whether university students volunteering for the aged could become the alternative alleviating the social problem generated by the aging or not.
