국문 초록

한국은 최근 성공적인 2002 월드컵 개최와 선진국 클럽인 경제협력개발기구(OECD) 회원국으로서 대외 인지도가 크게 높아졌지만, 높아진 대외 인지도에 비해 국가이미지는 그에 미치지 못하는 실정이다. 이는 무엇보다도 문화적 역량에 대한 확고한 투자와 체계적인 연구를 통한 이해가 선행되지 못하여 우리문화에 대한 우수성을 세계만방에 알리지 못한 결과이다. 왜냐하면 국가이미지는 한 국가에 대해 오랜 기간 반복적으로 누적된 다양한 속성들이 정제되어 인간의 뇌리에 존재하는 잔상(殘像)이기 때문이다. 과거부터 문화적 역량은 국가이미지의 제고에 많은 기여를 하였다. 대표적인 일례로 근래의 영화나 드라마를 통한 한류는 대한민국 국가의 이미지를 한 단계 높여 주는 계기가 되었다. 문화적 역량강화는 비단 현재의 창의적인 창작활동도 필요하지만, 과거 선조들의 우수한 문화역량에 대한 연구와 정리를 통한 체계적인 이해도 선행되어야한다. 본 논문은 과거 찬란했던 우리의 기록문화 중에서 특히 회화적 기록문화에 대한 올바른 이해를 위하여 조선시대의 기록화에 대한 연구를 하고자 한다. 미술은 시대적인 배경 및 사회적 배경에 밀접한 관계를 맺으며 발전해 왔다. 조선의 예술 속에서 기록화 또한 예외가 되지 못한다. 기록화는 조선회화사에서는 물론 한국회화사에서도 중요한 비중을 차지하는 화보이다. 아마 조선시대의 기록화가 우리에게 주는 가장 큰 가르침은 철저한 기록정신이다. 기록화를 통해 우리는 조선시대기록문화의 치밀함을 확인할 수 있으며 다양하면서도 생동감 있는 전통문화의 현장을 입체적으로 접할 수 있는 것이다. 본고의 이러한 일련의 분류는 새로운 각도에서 파악되는 『새로운 조선 회화사』의 기초 작업이라는 점에서 의미 있다 하겠다. 선조들의 뛰어난 기록문화의 전통을 계승하는 것은 21세기 문화대국으로 향하는 토대가 될 것으로 확신하며, 이 논문이 조선시대의 기록문화를 이해하는데 있어서 작은 기여가 되었으면 한다.

영문 초록

Recently, the international position of Korea has been improved highly because of the success of 2002 Worldcup and the role as a member of nation OECD. Above all this resulted from not notifying the world of excellence of Korean culture by failing to appreciate it through a firm investment and a systematical investigation in our cultural capacity. The image of the nation, however, did not catch up with it as compared with its international position. A cultural capacity has contributed greatly to reconsideration of the national image for a long time. In these days, for example, the Current of Korea through some late movies and TV dramas paved the way that enhanced the Korean image a step. Although intensification of cultural capacity needs present active activity of creation, it should be done first by understanding systematically through investigation and arrangement about the past ancestors excellent cultural capacity. This dissertation researches into documentary painting of Joseon in order to appreciate correctly the past splendid documentary culture, especially painting documentary culture. The fine art has developed closely entering into a relation to the background of times and that of social. Art in Joseon documentary painting has no exception as well. Painting of record also has been an important picture album in Joseon painting history as well as in Korean painting history. Perhaps the most important teaching Joseon documentary painting shows is thorough genius of record. With the documentary painting we can verify elaborateness of Joseon documentary culture and at the same time we can get access in three dimensions to the traditional culture that is diverse and lively. This dissertation s various classification above may be a meaningful work as a basic analytical “New Painting History of Joseon” res! earch in a new point of view. It is believed firmly that succeeding the tradition of the ancestors superior recording culture is to be the base toward a cultural great country of the 21th century, and hope that this dissertation will be able to make a small contribution to appreciation of Joseon documentary culture.
