국문 초록

역대기 저자는 일련의 족보들로 구성된 역대기의 서문, 1역대 1~9장에서 매우 독특한 방법으로 여성들을 언급한다. 이 족보에 나타난 여인들의 대부분은 그 이전의 성경 전통에서는 알려지지 않은 인물들일뿐 아니라 족보 내에 여성들의 분포도 역시 족보에 따라 상이하게 나타난다. 따라서 이 논문은 역대기의 족보 안에 나타난 여성들의 역할에 대해 고찰하고 역대기 저자가 족보들, 특히 중심적인 네 지파(유다, 벤야민, 므나쎄, 에프라임)의 족보 안에 여성들을 소개하는 이유를 밝히고자 한다. 이 논문은 다음의 결론들을 제시한다: (1) 여성의 역할에 대한 역대기 저자의 관점은 그 이전의 성경 저자들, 특히 사제계 저자들과 크게 다르지 않다. (2) 역대기의 족보에 등장하는 여인들은 지파의 영토 확장이나 지파들 간의 사회-종족 간의 융합이나 족보의 분화를 설명하는 데에 활용된다. (3) 여성들을 족보에 도입함으로써 역대기 저자는 유배 이후 공동체의 종족적 다양성을 옹호하고 이 공동체의 정체성에 대한 자신의 이해, 특히 이 공동체의 이상적인 지역적 영역에 대한 자신의 이해를 전달하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The Chronicler utilizes female figures in a peculiar way in 1 Chronicles 1~9, the preface of Chronicles, which constitutes a series of the genealogies. The Chronicler introduces female figures who are not known in earlier biblical traditions in these genealogies. Moreover, the distribution of the female names among the genealogies of the different tribes is not even. Thus, this article attempts to examine female gender roles appeared in the Chronicler’s genealogies and to decipher the Chronicler’s intention to introduce female figures in the genealogies, especially of the four tribes(Judah, Benjamin, Manasseh and Ephraim). This article proposes following conclusions: (1) The Chronicler’s perspective about female gender role is not much different from his predecessors, that is, Priestly writers. (2) The female figures in the Chronicler’s genealogies are utilized as a device to describe a tribe’s territorial expansion or socio-ethnic amalgamation or genealogical segmentation. (3) With these female figures, the Chronicler’s genealogies seem to convey two significant messages to his contemporaries: his inclusive perspective on ethnic diversity of the restored community and his understanding of the identity of the community in terms of its territorial boundaries.
