국문 초록

동시대 중국현대미술은 세계인의 많은 기대와 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 중국현대미술은 서양의 어떤 회화양식보다 그들만이 가진 독특한 정체성과 이데올로기가 결합되면서 차별성을 현저히 보여준다. 1980년대에는 예술가들이 이데올로기에 대한 문제와 갈등을 표현하는데 목적이 있었다면 90년대 중국사회는 경제발전으로 인한 물질주의가 화두가 되며 그로인해 잃어버린 그들의 역사적 기억을 문화정체성 재건이라는 명제로 예술가들의 창작행위가 시작되었다. 장성(만리장성), 도자기 같은 실체에 집중하며 이를 다양한 표현방식으로 나타낸다. 그러한 과정에서 중국의 전통성과 정신의 상징이라 할 수 있는 도자 매체에 예술가들이 집중하게 되었음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 이 논문의 목적도 도자 매체가 중국현대미술에서 어떤 방식으로 사용되는지, 그리고 도자 매체의 중요성을 다시 한 번 재조명하는데 있다. 이 글에서는 아이웨이웨이(Ai Weiwei), 리우지엔화(Liu Jianhua), 리샤오펑(Li Xiaofeng) 3명의 작가 작품을 통해 중국현대미술에서 도자매체를 다루는 방식과 특징에 대해 분석하였다. 그 전에 중국현대미술에서 1980년대 이후 사회와 예술의 관계, 이를 편의상 미술계의 큰 화두가 된 사건들과 기록으로 나눠 살펴보았고 그로 인해 발생된 여러 미술양식과 종류에 대해 논하였다. 이는 도자 매체의 현대성이 미술계의 다양한 사건과 양식에 얽혀 나타난 현상으로 보며 작가 분석을 하기 위한 단서로 제공되었다.

영문 초록

Contemporary Chinese art has become the subject of expectation and interest to the people of the world. As it fuses its own unique identity and ideology, more than any painting method of the West, contemporary Chinese art strikingly displays its distinction. If the artists of the 1980s aimed at expressing problems and conflict over ideology, then to the Chinese society of the 1990s, the hot issue was the resulting materialism of economic development, which promoted the creative acts of artists into the proposition of restoring a cultural identity from the their lost historical memory. Focusing on an actuality like the Great Wall and Ceramic, they express this in various ways. During this process, artists came to concentrate on the ceramic medium, which may be regarded as the spiritual symbol and traditionality of China. Therefore, the purpose of this dissertation was to find out how the ceramic medium was used in contemporary Chinese cart, and again organize the importance of this medium. This paper analyzed how the characteristics and methods of handling the ceramic medium was conducted in contemporary Chinese art through the works of three artist, who are Ai Weiwei, Liu Jianhua, and Li Xiaofeng. In advance, the relationship between society and art during the 1980s was examined, and for convenience, in the form of records and events that were hot issues in the art world during the day so as to discuss the various types of art forms which resulted. This is viewed as a phenomenon in which various events and forms of the art world become entwined with the contemporaneity of the ceramic medium, which provides a clue for analyzing the artists.
