영문 초록

The objective of this study was to provide a guiding direction that could help rural economic development through the green tourism practices by comparing between Korea and Japan. The results of this study were: 1) In Japan, it had been 30 years of long history on green tourism operations with the systematic and phased manner. Green tourism in Japan had been more diverse programs than Korean's, such as kinds of ownerships, agricultural products, and inter-exchange programs between urban residents and rural residents. 2) Green Tourism in Japan was focused on networking a region's dispersed green tourism sites. On the other hand, green tourism in Korea had a tendency on single site based development. It led to weak on networking among green tourism sites. 3) The ratio of the repeated visitors to green tourism sites in Japan was higher than that of the repeated visitors in Korea. By comparing green tourism between Korea and Japan, future directions of green tourism development in Korea are: 1) It is necessary to consolidate the dispersed green tourism facilities in a region in order to network them. 2) For ensuring repeated visitors to green tourism sites and local economic development, it is necessary to establish an organization whose mission is to provide the consultation with all levels of facility and management planning on green tourism operations. 3) Natural environment in rural areas is the most important resource in Eastern Asian countries where have large mountainous areas and agricultural lands, so it needs to be formulated the policies, which can promote the concepts of conservation and sustainable development on green tourism operations
