SNS에서 청소년 사이버불링의 특징 및 위험요인에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 최근 SNS를 이용한 청소년의 사이버불링의 실태를 경험적으로 파악하고 사이버불링의 가해 및 피해경험의 위험요인을 살펴보고자 주요 SNS 서비스(카카오스토리, 페이스북, 트위터, 싸이월드) 이용자를 대상으로 집단좌담회(focus group interview)와 설문조사(survey)를 결합한 통합적 연구방법을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 질적 연구를 통한 분석 결과, 청소년들은 SNS에서 주로 재미와 오락을 추구하는 경향이 있으며, SNS 이용 시 자신이 범죄나 일탈의 피해자가 될 가능성에 대한 경계의식이 낮은 수준이고, SNS를 이용하는 다른 사람들은 물론 자신 스스로도 SNS에서의 윤리의식이 낮다고 생각하는 경향이 있으며, SNS를 이용한 불링 행동을 복수나 장난으로 여겨 가해 및 피해경험이 중첩되는 경우가 많다는 특성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 연구에서는 질적인 분석 및 선행연구를 통해 SNS 노출정도, 낮은 경계감, 재미ㆍ오락의 추구, 낮은 자기통제, 낮은윤리의식을 위험요인으로 설정하고 이를 통계적으로 검증하였다. 분석 결과, SNS를 이용한 사이버불링의 가해경험에 중요한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 낮은 자기통제, 낮은 윤리의식, 사이버불링의 피해횟수가, 피해경험에 중요한 영향을 미치는 요인은 낮은 자기통제로 나타났다. SNS를 이용한 사이버불링을 예방하기 위해서는 청소년에 대한 윤리교육이 반드시 필요하며, 기업도 이윤추구만을 위한 무분별한 서비스 확장보다는 청소년에 대한 사회적 책임의 관점에서 기술적 대안을 마련해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

To empirically examine current status of juvenile cyber bullying on SNS and seek factors behind cyber bullying offending and victimization experience, this study used integrated methodology of Focus Group Interview and survey on juveniles using main SNS services. Results from qualitative analysis show juveniles tend to pursue fun and entertainment from SNS, and they have low alert consciousness on the possibility of becoming victimized by deviant behavior, and themselves believe they have low level of ethical consciousness. Also, it was found that SNS cyber bullying was characterized by overlap of multiple offending and victimization experience due to vengeful behavior and pranks. Through qualitative research and review of previous studies, this study extrapolates the following risk factors: SNS exposure, low alert, pursuit of fun and entertainment, low self-control, low ethical consciousness, degree of overlap between offending and victimization. According to statistical analysis, statistically significant and important factors influencing SNS cyber bullying offending and victimization are low self-control, low ethical consciousness and number of victimization. To prevent SNS cyber bullying, ethical education for juveniles is recommended. Enterprises also need to consider their social responsibilities in the development services rather than solely focusing on profits.
