저소득 한부모 여성가구주의 폐업 경험에 대한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 폐업 경험이 있는 한부모 여성가구주를 대상으로 그들이 경험한 폐업의 원인과 의미를 심층적으로 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 연구목적 달성을 위해 과거 창업을 했지만 폐업을 경험한 바 있는 한부모 여성 가구주 5인을 의도적으로 표집하여 구술면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였고, Connelly and Clandinin(1991)의 내러티브 탐구방법으로 분석하였다. 연구 참여자 개인과 환경에 따라 폐업의 원인은 달랐으나, 공통적으로 폐업은 도미노처럼 얽힌 사건들의 연쇄반응 결과이며 그 과정에서 연구참여자들은 자금의 어려움, 경영의 어려움, 자녀 양육의 어려움, 건강상의 어려움으로 인해 혼자서 버티고 고군분투하다 무너짐을 경험하였다. 연구참여자들은 내러티브의 재이야기 하는 과정을 통해 폐업의 고통 이후 자신의 삶을 새롭게 조망할 수 있게 되었는데, 그들은 실패했으나 창업 기회를 긍정적으로 인식하였으며, 폐업을 통해 자신의 길을 찾아 갈수 있게 되었을 뿐 아니라 스스로 할 수 있는 것과 없는 것을 구별하는 자기인식을 하게 되었음을 고백하였다. 이러한 경험을 토대로 폐업을 사전에 예방하고, 폐업 과정에서 손실을 최소화 시키는 실천적 지침을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to understand causes and meanings of business closure in depth, targeting low-income female single-parent householders who have closed their own businesses, which these low-income female single-parent householders have once gone through. In order to achieve the research goal, the study deliberately selected a total of five female single-parent householders who have gone out of business after the business start-up, and gathered data and references via verbal interviews with the research participants. The data and references were analyzed by a narrative inquiry method designed by Connelly and Clandinin (1991). Each of the research participants turned out that they had different causes for the business closure depending on personal reasons or environments but still, in general, it was learned that the business closure is a result of chain reactions of all those domino-complex incidents. The research participants, back then, were striving hard to survive the difficulties all by themselves but in the end, for not having any particular systems or supports to help them out, they had to close the business. Through the narrative's restorytelling process, the research participants were able to take a new look at their lives since the tragic feelings caused by the business closure, and they confessed that even though they has failed, it was a good chance for them to have positive ideas about going into business. They added that they were able to find their own ways working most favorably for themselves when they try to have a private business and that they came to have this ability to distinguish what they are actually capable of from what they should get help from anywhere. In the light of what the study has learned from the stories of the research participants, the study proposed guidelines practical enough to prevent the female single-parent householders from the business closure, helping them minimize damages in the process of the closure.
