페미니즘 대중화 시대, 반성폭력운동의 교착 : 피해자-대리인 관계를 중심으로

국문 초록

한국 반성폭력운동은 피해자가 전면에 나서기 어려운 환경에서 피해자 대리인 중심의 활동을 전개해왔다. 피해자 대리인은 피해 경험에 대한 해석을 제공하고 이를 사회적으로 전달하는 역할을 해왔다. 그러나 2010년대 이후 페미니즘 대중화 시대의 반성폭력운동은 미투운동 등 피해 당사자의 목소리를 통해 확산되었고 이로 인해 기존의 대리인 중심 운동 방식에 근본적인 변화가 일어난 상황이다. 본 연구는 이처럼 변화된 피해자-대리인 관계를 탐색하고 그리고 이 과정에서 기존 대리인의 역할과 입지가 어떻게 재편되었는지를 살펴보았다. 피해자 대리인에 대한 심층인터뷰를 통해 피해 당사자들의 직접적인 발화가 운동 내부에 가져온 역동성과 더불어 대리인들의 피해자 도구화, 피해자 정체성 정치로 인한 성폭력 문제의 개인화, 그리고 반성폭력운동가로서의 대리인이 아닌 피해자 개인의 대리인으로 변모하는 등 새로운 형태의 갈등 및 한계를 구체적인 사례를 중심으로 진단하였다. 연구 결과, 피해자-대리인 간의 행위성이 상호침식적 관계가 될 때 반성폭력운동의 교착 상태가 심화됨을 확인하였다. 이러한 발견은 반성폭력운동을 넘어 다양한 '당사자운동'이 직면한 대리 방식의 한계와 주체 형성의 복합성을 이해하는 데 중요한 단초를 제공한다. 또한 본 연구는 피해자 대리인을 한국 반성폭력운동의 주요 행위 주체로 이론화할 수 있는 전제를 제공하여, 운동의 새로운 주체론과 해석 경로를 모색하는 데 중요한 시사점을 던진다.

영문 초록

The Korean anti-sexual violence movement has been centred on victim advocates, as victims often find it difficult to come forward. However, since the 2010s, the popularisation of feminism and the spread of the Me Too movement have brought the voices of victims to the forefront, demanding fundamental changes to the existing advocate-centred approach. These changes inevitably led to a redefinition of the victim-agent relationship, which manifested itself in the reconfiguration and deepening of the ‘stalemate’ facing the movement. This study explores how the changed victim-agent relationship has deepened the stalemate in the anti-sexual violence movement and how the roles and positions of existing agents have been reorganised in the process. To this end, through in-depth interview analysis of representatives in the anti-sexual violence movement, this study diagnoses new forms of conflict and limitations, such as the instrumentalisation of victims by representatives, the individualisation of sexual violence issues due to victim identity politics, and the transformation of representatives from advocates for the anti-sexual violence movement to advocates for individual victims, focusing on specific cases. The results of the study confirmed that when the agency of victims and advocates develops into a mutually destructive relationship, the deadlock in the anti-sexual violence movement intensifies. This finding provides an important starting point for understanding the limitations of advocacy methods and the complexity of subject formation faced by various ‘stakeholder movements’ beyond the anti-sexual violence movement. Additionally, this study provides the theoretical foundation for conceptualising victim advocates as key actors in the Korean anti-sexual violence movement, offering important implications for exploring new subject theories and interpretive pathways within the movement.
