정보화 사회에 따른 대학교육의 개선에 대한 소고

국문 초록

대학은 '상아탑'이라는 표현이 말해주듯 학문의 전당으로 일반사회와는 동떨어진 곳이었지만, 오늘에 와서는 사회와 밀접한 관련을 맺으며 사회발전을 위해 봉사하는 평생교육기관으로 자리매김하고 있다. 그런 점에서 오늘의 대학은 정보화 사회에 따른 새로운 교육적 개선을 요청받고 있다. 정보화의 새로운 물결과 그에 따른 기술의 발달은 사회의 모든 영역에 영향을 미치고 결국 인간에게 새로운 방식의 삶의 태도와 능력을 요구하고 있다. 교수자의 역할도 지식의 전달적 기능에서 탈피하여 지식을 기초로 학습자들이 스스로의 자아를 계발하도록 하는 보조자의 역할을 수행하게 되었다. 학습자 역시 교육의 많은 부분을 컴퓨터 등을 통해 활용하고 있으며, 교육의 기본이 되는 인간관계 또한 변화가 일어나고 있다. 학생들은 정보화 사회의 다양한 정보를 읽고 해석하여 공부하며, 정보매체 등을 통하여 실시되는 교육적인 기능은 그 영향력이 갈수록 커지고 있다. 대학은 새로운 시대에 맞게 교수와 학생이 서로 성장하는 '교학상장'(敎學相長)의 시스템으로 대학의 모습을 개선해나가야 한다. 학생은 자발적인 주체로 학습에 참여하고, 교수는 단순한 지식의 전달자에서 벗어나 학생의 공부를 도와주는 보조자, 촉진자, 안내자, 혹은 관리자로 그 역할을 수행해 나가야 한다. 이를 통해 대학은 사회와 격리된 세계가 아닌 사회 속에서 사회와 함께 평생 학습 사회를 이루어가게 될 것이다. 이렇게 될 때, 대학은 배우는 즐거움이 있는 곳, 인생의 가치를 높이는 곳, 만남을 귀하게 여기는 곳, 사람을 소중히 생각하는 곳으로 자리매김하게 될 것이다.

영문 초록

University used to be called "Ivory Tower", which means a hall of education. It has a huge meaning to people but sometimes it doesn't always sound familiar to everyone in our society. However, these days it has been trying to have connection to the society and establishing itself for making out society better. And also some universities play a role as a center of life-long education. For this part, recently universities are expected to be improving their curriculum related to the information-oriented society. The new flow in the society has an impact on all the aspects in our society. Also, the improvement and the new flow let people in the society need to have a new ability and attitude toward the new world. In the past, educators were regarded as a teacher or instructor. But now they are expected to be people who let learners find their ways to improve themselves. In the past, almost classes used to be a type of "teacher and learner", but today there are learners, teachers and various kinds of tools which are used during class. For this change, the old-fashioned education which means "just teacher and learner in the class" is fading out. Learners need to learn a variety of information flowing over in the information-oriented society. That's the reason why university has to try to improve themselves to meet the new learners expectation of the new society. In the new society, learners are expected to be willing to be active to learn new things, and educators are expected to play a role as just not a teacher but also helper, motivator, guide and manager. University trying to play the important roles that people expect, it can be a center of life-long education for all leaners which is open to anyone who wants to learn. Furthermore, it should play a role as where people feel happy to learn, where people develop themselves, where people make themselves better so that they can makes themselves have a better quality of their lives.
