영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the pattern and related factors of pain among hospitalized patients during admission. Method: The study was a secondary data analyzed using ENR system. The subjects were 1984 medical and surgical patients who were admitted in medical and surgical wards and intensive care units from June 1st to June 30th, 2010 in a university hospital in D city. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 18.0 statistic program. Result: The patients who complained pain during admission was 17.2%. At this time pain score was 4.24. The NRS pain measurement tool was utilized most frequently by 75.7% of the subjects. Results showed that complaints of pain in department of surgery were found to be increased as well as patients confined in orthopedics. The location of pain mainly confined to abdomen and chest (27.4%), Pain intensity of Lumbar area was the highest having 5.20. Conclusion: Nurses should closely assess the level of pain among hospitalized patients and be able to provide relevant interventions to control and alleviate the suffering of pain.
